what is up with Hachimura? It says he has been out all season with "personal reasons". I cannot find anything on it.

I don’t know.

Reports say he just wasn’t in shape when he joined the team and needs time to get conditioning right.

The bigger question is how will Beal’s status be impacted by DC’s new vaccine mandate.

Caruso?

Just kidding. Of course the Bulls wouldn’t do that.

Seriously though, I don’t think he can return a whole lot. His upside really isn’t as high as a couple of the Laker fans on here make it seem.

Like you said, he has some positive trade value, but not enough to return the type of player the Lakers need.

The closest they might be able to get would be a veteran similar to THT who doesn't make the mistakes he does. So someone who could help a little bit, but that's about it.

About the only way they can get actual help, imo, would be if they included him in a trade with Westbrook to a team looking to blow it up and tank.

Kevin Love:

20 minutes a game. 12.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 41.2% from 3, 94.3% from the FT line.

Those per minute stats are extremely efficient. As I said in June- if he is healthy- the guy can still; (i) shoot, (ii) rebound, (iii) pass.

buy him out!
You would pay 30 million for that production? That’s the part you’re glossing over.

hell no.

but I def. wouldnt cut him and pay 30M to play for someone else. At this point- wiping him off the books is not an option.
And that’s why every Love assessment and discussion entailed him being on another team. And that’s why you saw all the buy out talk. Nobody is going to give up 30 mil in contract assets to get Kevin Love. He does have value to teams though as a buy out candidate. Just a quick reminder of why those buy out discussions took place this summer.

def. right

I mean- right now iwth how Love is playing, what is he? maybe at the low end 12 million dollar player- maybe at the high end maybe 18? which- assumes that he stays healthy- which admittedly is a big assumption.

there is value in a big man that can shoot a 3 at a high level, rebound at a high level, and can pass as well as Love.

he has had some excellent throw-back outlet passes that have been fun to watch.

at this point- I dont think the Cavs would give him away just as a free salary dump. I dont know though. its an interesting question.

lol

Its why I really, really wanted the Cavs to buy him out and the Lakers to get him.

It wasnt like he forgot how to play or has skills that erode quickly. It looks like the Cavs may have found the perfect role to keep him healthy and still be effective on the court...not to mention that hes a good guy for the youngsters, especially your young bigs, to learn from.

Im sure they would prefer to be paying him less. But it looks like they were smart to keep him.

Woj reporting the Cavs are "the team to watch" in the Simmons trade sweepstakes.

I dont know how i feel about this. All depends on the deal I guess...............

Would probably end the Embiid contention window.
Cav deal for me would have to be Sexton Markinnen Okoro and picks. I’m running from anything that would involve taking back Love. Love and Simmons make the same money so Sixers would have to give up more assets to actually get back any value at all.

Too much? I would definitely hate that trade honestly but there are options for 3-4 team deals where the Cavs wouldn’t give up a ton of assets. I am hesitant about Sexton and Okoro bc of Okoro but no way Mark. I know he is a salary filler but that is 3 key players they would be losing. Even Mark and Sexton I could work my way into thinking it’s worth bc they keep Okoro

I don't see the Cavs trading both okoro and Mark. Not to mention adding Mark means you need something more from the sixers or a third team

I see think best case is sign-and-trade in the offseason involving Sexton. Easier to match salaries when his will jump to $20-$25M/year. Add in picks and fillers and more team could be included

I agree with the author of this article about why it would be profitable for the Lakers to consider a Westbrook for John Wall trade. The vid tells the story as does the author as Westbrook has been getting lost defensively most of the season. But I think I might be more in favor of one of those three-team scenarios involving Simmons before I'd go for John Wall.

John Wall is a realistic target, not one that is going to make the Lakers better though.

Returning Simmons is not realistic in any way.

prob be something like that I would assume.

Maybe Rubio instead of Markkenen.

id think Sexton and Okoro would have to be included- and maybe be re-routed elsewhere.

Simmons for Westbrook is a non starter
