Curious. Based on what? He barely played and was routinely behind benny snell
Barely played is exactly why. He's largely an unknown, with limited carries at the college level as well. Need to see what they have before throwing guys away IMO. Fast and elusive, he should at least be a change of pace option IMO. It's not like the 2020 preseason was a good situation for rookies to make an impression.

Likely a reason for that....they have seen to an extent in practice. Running backs are the easiest transition.

but cant bank on him for the coming year... change of pace guy certainly. But pittsburgh runs a lead back system...they need a bell cow

He'll try to be a sportscaster, and will be Tony Siragusa bad. And probably just as fat.

not a chance in hell that Ben would go to work "in the booth". Given how much the media seems to despise him, he'd probably never get the chance, anyway. when he retires, the only time we'll see him is when he's playing in Pro-AM golf tournaments

They still have McFarland who I think deserves increased opportunity.
Matt Canada coached McFarland at Maryland, too.

That's probably the reason they drafted him. I think there is certainly a chance he's got a bigger role this season than most people realize.

I think its certainly possible. Especially with our cap situation. Just dont think its a slam dunk.

um...i think he used to do a weekly radio show? but then stopped?
He got in trouble with people saying he was taking veiled shots at teammates (and coaches?), and that really ramped up the "Ben is a terrible teammate and leader." horseshit.

So he stopped.

IIRC

oh i agree, it's complete horseshit, but ever since Ben's escapades back in 2009-2010, all the talking heads out there have had a clear vendetta against the guy.

The latest shot they took at Ben was blaming him for the Steelers not landing JJ Watt...

lmao

MacFarland... Definitely going to get more opportunities this year given the scheme fit. But he has to pass TC with flying colors if he wants to get that shot. Tomlin is known to want all his RBs to be well rounded in every facet of the offense. Blocking is a big thing for him. He loves the ‘backs on backers’. Snell has his chance to prove something this year and he didn’t do very well. Clearly he needs a decent O-line in front of him. With more experience I think Mac has a better chance of becoming the premier guy.

Ben... He did a weekly appearance on a radio show. And yea that was where he took all his so called backhanded shots at teammates. There isn’t a snowflakes’ chance in hell that he goes into the booth. His personality isn’t very good and as ojb mentioned, the media & general public still has quite the disdain for the man. There would be too much backlash.

Yeah, JJ would have signed if Rudolph was the QB.....
Yep, apparently so... JJ would have taken pennies on the dollar compared to what he signed for & was offered.........just to play with Mason Rudolph.

Makes perfect sense.

Lol I’m getting blasted by the casuals on Twitter. Apparently nobody knows how NFL contracts work.

Because “14 is less than 19 so that means he took a pay cut”

Yep, I must be a muppet Neanderthal for not believing that.

Yep. Wish they were that creative!

A tweet I posted somewhere in here said they would blame him for World Hunger if they thought it would generate clicks
