He'd be an upgrade at linebacker for sure.

Prolly could give him time at corner or safety too.

No kidding. We only have 1 good LB and 1 barely worth his salt. And we just got them in FA.

We are fine in the secondary though. Lets not get crazy.

I'll be surprised if the Bears haven't signed him by Friday. They need a RB after Cohen got hurt and Montgomery is just blah.

Whoever signs Bell, at this point, better give him 30-40 touches a game or else he's gonna be pissed and throw a hissy fit on Twitter.

Philly could also use him.

Good for bell. He had to get out of that mess of an organization. He needs to find a team that can use his skills properly and not just waste years of his playing days.

Man, if the Jets do get Trevor Lawrence...they need to do a 360 on this organization. Just fire everyone and go out in FA and send a ton of money on the OL and some pass rushers.

Remember in summer 2018 when I said Bell was a product of the Pitt system and that id rather have lots of other guys including CMac and like 75% of yall laughed at me?? Good times
I said something similar. His style of running worked behind an elite O-line. Running behind the Jets O-line looked like a disaster for him. And sure enough...

Bell is now nothing more than a back up. And it was predictable. Once he got paid, he checked out mentally

The terrible 2018 decision was a snowball affect of bad outcomes. It was a crappy bed that he made for himself to lay in, but it was the risk he had to take. I don’t fault him for it. What I do fault him for was the series of events leading up to his final holdout. Lying to teammates, bad faith negotiations, creating distractions, etc. He turned himself into a complete D-bag over the course of 1-2 months.

Shitty situation, but this was the best possible outcome for Bell. He’s lucky that the Jets are dumb enough to allow this to happen. Bell gets $35mil after only 1.25 years with that shitshow, and now he has an opportunity for a revival with a better team in the twilight of his career.

Still plenty of risk for teams interested in him. Not just injury risk. He has a well known rep for being me-first player and being a child about bitching on social media platforms. He was somewhat of a stand-up guy while playing for the Jets. But you see what happens when he gets frustrated. I don’t think he’d be a cancer to a locker room, but he could easily cause a boatload of distraction. I don’t think the Chiefs would want to inject that sort of risk into an already championship-capable outfit.

Shit on the Steelers? Yes.

Forced a trade? No. He sat out the entire season & became a UFA. Steelers only got a compensatory pick for losing him.

Any chance the Steelers pick him up? :heh:

What was the contract he turned down when he was still in Pittsburgh? L. Bell's a dumbbell.

I love how Bell is the first fall guy for what's gone wrong with the Jets.....like Gase isn't the main problem.

G n G is a casual football fan, he doesn't know much about any sport really.

I hope not. No thanks. Don’t want any part of that even if he’s arguably an upgrade. That said, wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers did go after him. Tomlin is diehard over players he drafts.

I don’t think it was ever confirmed, but supposedly there was a $70m contract on the table. Roughly $30m guaranteed.
