An interesting stats regarding the Bears' defense...

The Bears were 1st in the league defensively, after the first 8 games, in redzone percentage and 3rd down percentage.

They are 31st in those categories over the last 8.


Wild disparity.

And yet BearsWillWin was talking like this defense belonged in the same sentence as the superbowl Bucs and Ravens Ds. Old and dumb.

Well, in fairness they are playing well below what is expected of them. Have I mentioned that I fucking hate Chuck Pagano?

Chuck Pagano has a pretty solid resume. To simply blame him is completely inaccurate. The front 4 has played poorly including Mack and Quinn and poor defenses always start there. If Pagano is the weak link why would anyone even mention Bucs or Ravens defense? It's not like Chuck just got here and messed everything up.

This defense is good with bad depth. The downgrade from starter to the next guy up is pretty severe and that's what's happening right now.

Resume schmesume...it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately league. And I don't recall him coaching for the Bucs, and I am MUCH more inclined to credit Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Suggs and Ngata for the Ravens' D's success than I am Pagano. He ostensibly inherited one of the best Ds ever. BFD.

He's as vanilla as they come. This team has better starters AND depth than what they had with Fangio, and have done nothing but decline since Pagano's arrival.

In fact, I think there is an argument to made that he may be one of the more overrated coaches ever.


This probably won't be popular, but I think he gets a pass most wouldn't cuz he's cancer survivor face for the NFL.

Pagano has been awful. His blitz packages put the team in bad position.

Blame goes to the players first and foremost. They underperform. But Pagano has not coached well.
