One more obstacle: NFL's West Coast Teams Have An Edge: The Sandman : NPR

Basically, a team traveling East to West for a night game in the NFL usually plays poorer than normal because it disrupts the natural body clock rhythm. So on top of all of the football reasons why this one will be a big dragon to slay... there's this.

worst of all the body clock is Cutler. Not only is his schedule changed like everyone else, his diabetes management also has caused him trouble in the past for night games

The score of the 49ers / Dallas game is a bit deceiving... 14 of 28 points basically were scored by SF defense (one TD and one 2 yard short field TD to Davis after turnover). This is Dallas defense that is not very good.. and the 49ers offense was only able to put up 14 points on their own.

Dallas offense had almost 400 yards of offense and rushed for over 5.0 yards/carry. Romo shot their offense in the foot too often... not going to win with 4 team turnovers.

Bears offense > Dallas offense
Bears defense > Dallas defense

If Cutler and Bears protect the ball and do not turnover the ball I think Bears win this game. Key is Cutler will need to protect the ball... something he struggles with at times.

While its true we were shut out in the 2nd half a few things to consider was an extremely questionable handfull of penalty calls that killed a very promising drive. Even Aikman who is a huge Dallas homer was calking BS, we basically went into run the ball and kill the clock mode as the game was never really in danger of slipping away. I am pretty confident we could have scored at least 2 more TD's if the coaches reAlly wanted to.

On the flip side Dallas had a drive that was kept alive by some more really bad penalty's, now I know good teams overcome the refs and its not an excuse etc etc , but they did skew things a bit.

Not sure if anyone saw this but was on the NFL home mentioning injuries:

Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery uncertain to play - NFL.com

Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery uncertain to play

Even in the best circumstances, the Chicago Bears faced a tall order on Sunday night in San Francisco when the 49ers unveil Levi's Stadium. These are not the best circumstances.

Brandon Marshall missed the majority of his third straight practice Friday because of his ankle injury, while his running mate Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) was limited in his return to practice. Both players are listed as questionable on the injury report, but coach Marc Trestman didn't exactly sound a note of optimism on Marshall.

"He just walked-through. At best, it was a light jog," Trestman said.

Jeffery said that he felt good, but noted that practice and playing in a game are different. Trestman indicated that they would have to make some adjustments to the roster, which is not a surprise because another wide receiver (Josh Morgan) is doubtful to play. In short: Santonio Holmes is the only Bears receiver that the team knows will play. And the Bears are missing two starting offensive linemen (Matt Slauson and Roberto Garza.)
Add it all up, and I'm deeply regretting picking the Bears to pull off the upset on Sunday

Just want to say how nice it is to talk football like grownups. Bear fans, GB fans & SF fans all showing class. If the injury's are as bad as it is starting to seem, then we are screwed. Not that we had a great shot, but I believe with a full team we can win any game. Or lose any.

No doubt, I think you guys have a shot, you have a talented team, we are both banged up and hopefully no more major injury's come Sunday night. Worst part of Football is watching great players get taken out. I damn near cried when Bowman destroyed his knee in the NFCCG that was 10 times worse to me then the loss.

San Francisco 45 Chicago 6

Jay throws 3 INT's and Frank Gore runs for 236 yards. Colin Kaepernick runs for 75.

After the game, Jay states that his diabetes has made him blind and announces his retirement.

We don't match up with your offense well. You guys also don't match up well with ours. Not right now with a few key guys out anyway. But now we might also have just as many key guys out. But your strength of running is still there, and our strength of receiving will be devastated. Cutler will have little to trust at WR. In case you don't know. We lost our 3thrd WR in preseason. Kid named Wilson that was expected to have a break out season.

If Jeffery and Marshall play, we matchup well with their offense. It looks like Marshall will, and Jeffery practiced today. And it looks like they're just being very precautionary.

They'll still be game-time calls though.

If they can't play… well… we better damned well pray Forte goes ape shit.

And I do think we'll play them tough if those two play. Win? I don't know, and honestly probably don't think so. But I don't see us being a pushover win for them on their opening night at home.

If Marshall and Jeffery don't play, I expect to see a Forte and Bennett the focal points of the offense. I don't need to see any passes thrown towards Josh Bellamy or Chris Williams.

Jeffery's hammy was total precaution, not sure if you watched him do the flying hip bump with Marshall on Marshall's TD reception after Jeffery went out of the game for the "injury". He will play.

Boy was I wrong. Jeffery was hobbling around out there something fierce, both him and Marshall looked banged up and tentative. Props to them both for manning up.

Upsets happen because of turnover margins. +2 would not have been enough in this case. We were disciplined on offense and made them pay when they weren't. That's how you bake an upset, especially on the road.

Niners board is bitching bout the refs....if I'm not mistaken they were getting those calls while racking up a 17-0 lead while we were getting fuck-jobs, like the Bennett challenge.

Their first two scores came off extended drives by questionable penalties, where the Bears made stops on 3rd and long...3rd and 10, and 3rd and 15 if I'm not mistaken?

The game was hard to watch, because of all the flags, but when replayed, only a handful were erroneous.

+1.

Colin Kaepernick wanted to take chances and threw some undisciplined passes against our #1 pick. Jay played within himself and didn't let the Niner defense force him into any dumb errors. Love that.

The difference in the game, I believe.
