I still believe in our bullpen. I thought going into the season that we would see that there were better answers than Tolleson for the 9th inning and that Tolleson would be traded at some point. I still like Dyson, Diekman, Bush, Barnette, Faulkner, and Jackson.

Klein and Claudio have looked good at times as well.

Also, keep an eye on guys like Adam Parks, John Fasola, and Jose LeClerc who are pitching very well in relief for Frisco and Round Rock.

Tolleson wont fetch squat now

Banister is the real problem in the pen. We have the pieces. He has to know who and when to use them and who to send down for lack of performance.

No he won't, but I mentioned that to say that I didn't expect him to even be here for a good chunk of the season so his demise doesn't really affect how I feel about our pen very much.

If we can keep our starters healthy then come postseason we can use a couple of them in the pen.

I wonder if management will consider bringing up Sadzeck in late August for the pen kinda like the Rays did with Price the first year they brought him up. Not to convert him to a reliever, but to get him a taste of the big leagues at the end of a season while the team benefits from the heat he brings. That is, if they need anyone else at that point

Maybe the Rangers will send Tolleson down and sign Neil Cotts. Finding a spot on the 40 man might be the rub there though.

That was the equivalent of him getting in someone's face. It spoke volumes, and Banister needs to realize he's hurting his team, and they're fed up with it.

Tolleson needs to go to AAA till he can find his change up. He damn sure doesn't need to be pitching in high leverage situations.

That would have to be the last straw for Tolleson, he's scuffling bad and it's now started costing us wins as opposed to the beginning of the year when he was getting lucky

Time to give it over to Dyson and see how he does he can't do any worse at this point

Most of the guys have actually underperformed thus far in some way, so I'd say its a combination of both

I just heard Bacsik propose a Brinson/Tate trade to the Yankees for the rental of Chapman from the Yankees.

Takers?

Rangers' Rougned Odor: Suspended eight games, will appeal
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Odor was given an eight-game suspension Tuesday but he will appeal, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

A suspension for Odor was imminent after he landed a punch on Toronto's Jose Bautista during Sunday's heated contest, the only question was the length of the suspension. Odor was handed down an eight-game suspension but he will appeal the penalty, meaning that he will be able to remain in the lineup until a final decision is reached. If Odor ultimately is suspended for any amount of time, Hanser Alberto or Ian Desmond could fill in at second base for the Rangers.

Uh I don't see Desmond playing 2nd, Profar likely gets the call. We need Desmond in CF

Rangers' Elvis Andrus: Handed one-game suspension
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Andrus has been suspended one game for his role in Sunday's brawl with the Blue Jays, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Andrus was levied a one-game penalty for throwing a punch at Toronto's Kevin Pillar during Sunday's melee. The report did not confirm one way or another, but Andrus figures to appeal the suspension and continue playing for the time being.

Rangers' Yu Darvish: Slated for one more rehab start
by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com

Darvish (elbow) is expected to make one more rehab start before rejoining the Rangers' rotation, Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The right-hander made his fourth rehab start for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out six over five innings (68 pitches). He typically sat in the 93-95 mph range with his fastball, but got at high as 97 mph. The tentative target date for his return to the majors is May 27, and he'd have to agree to extend his rehab assignment much beyond that with the 30-day limit expiring on June 1.

Rangers' Shin-Soo Choo: Could be activated Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Choo (strained right calf) could be activated Friday against the Astros in Houston, MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan reports.

He will play Wednesday in a rehab game with Triple-A Round Rock, and if all goes well, that could be the final game in his rehab assignment. Choo is 3-for-8 with a home run, a double and a walk in his last two rehab games. Owners should prepare to activate him this weekend, at which point he should displace Ryan Rua in the lineup.

Rangers' Jurickson Profar: Poisted to play during Rougned Odor's suspension
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Profar was shifted to second base at Triple-A Round Rock in anticipation of serving as the primary second baseman once Rougned Odor's suspension appeal is heard, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.

Profar's ascent to the majors would be short-lived, but it's widely expected that he'd be a regular presence in the starting lineup for the duration of Odor's absence before returning to Triple-A.

Rangers' Kyle Lohse: Makes first start with Triple-A Round Rock
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Lose made his first start at Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Lohse is expected to provide a veteran swing-man option with Texas once he gets some innings under his belt in the minors, but he'll have to bide time waiting for injury before getting any sort of look in the rotation.

Rangers' Cole Hamels: Allows three homers in no-decision versus A's
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Hamels (4-0) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing four runs (three earned), nine hits and two walks while striking out six against the Athletics on Tuesday. He gave up three home runs and did not factor in the decision.

After giving up just four home runs over 25 innings in April, the left-hander has now given up five in his last two starts (12.1 innings). Hamels had not given up more than seven hits in a game through his first six starts, but Tuesday was the second consecutive outing in which he allowed nine hits. On a brighter note, Hamels' 9.3 K/9 is the best since his rookie season (2006), he's inducing ground balls at a career-high rate and his 85.7 percent strand rate is well above his career average. He'll toe the rubber next against the Angels on Monday.
