I asked this about Tepesch the other night so I will ask the same thing about Nick Martinez. In Martinez's last 9 starts his ERA is 3.48 and his WHIP is 1.24. Is that changing anyone's mind about considering Nick for next year's rotation?

At least a little on Tep. Like to see Marty in AAA to start next season.

(Tep) is only 24 and certainly seems like he's grown with the experience in 2014.

And the question was a good one then, as it is now. Meant to respond the first time around partner.

Not really no. If he and Tepesch are both in the rotation next year they will lose another 85 games.

Are the 9 game stretches both have put together a fluke?

I don't want to put words in JD's mouth, but over their last 9 starts both Nicks have looked much, much better. 3.29 and 3.48 ERAs for them.

They have and Martinez should have been pitching at AA if not for the injuries so he is having to learn at a high level.

Tepesch has 20 starts with less than 5 strike outs....I don't have much faith in him.

Martinez really isn't much better with his K/9.

Well I think Nick will help out the cause.

We face Hammel, Kazmir, Samardija, and Gray in the OAK series. There's still a chance. Maybe ARI gains a little momentum from the win last night

Looks like I couldn't have been more wrong, damnit.

Well, I can't really explain it. hard to tell since we are not in a playoff hunt and the teams we are playing are just not playing well at this time.

Harry was never a big K guy either.

I guess that is the difference then. I don't have to have the strike outs as long as they are getting results.

Don't have much faith in losing to Oakland. They will be a wild card and who cares if it's in Oakland or KC.

Now if Detroit is a wild card then it gets interesting.

I don't really have faith in either. I'm fine with one of them being the 5th starter (but not with Colby as the 4th), but I liked Mikolas' stuff better. I wish he would have gotten the same amount of starts this year. He'll start the year in AAA and maybe get another shot eventually.

Harry was never a big K guy either.

And he somehow magically out performed his peripherals. I wouldn't use his improbable success to make a case for other pitchers. I also think he was more polished than those two.

I think a lot of folks feel the same way you do about the Nick's. I just wonder if it might be a case of the grass always being greener on the other side.

Anyone make note this morning that the Rangers announced Ogando isn't ready for winter ball?

I doubt Cotts will be back next year. Blow this one Neal, and do us a favor.

I appreciate what he did for us a few seasons ago, but personally, I don't want him back.

The battle for positions in our BP is going to be interesting IMO.
