And again, I think if Harvey is showing signs of life and looks to be good to go the Mets probably deal Colon before the contract is up. 2015 has been the target year for some time so it never hurts having a stockpile of quality pitching, if for nothing else just to trade to get help elsewhere.

Forgot about Harvey's injury... Hence the Colon signing

He also will eat up plenty of innings for us, minimum 180 IMO. Hopefully close to 200.

40+ year old innings-eaters aren't supposed to cost $10M per. The second year of the deal is what amazes me.

He has a 2.99 ERA (127 ERA+) over the last two years. So it's not like he's just eating innings. He's been walking few batters (1.4 BB/9).

Oh man, I can't wait to watch him try to run the bases.

I'd rather have him at 2 years than Arroyo at 3 or 4. He most likely will be traded next year when Harvey is back and some of the kids are ready. For now he will be fine, mentor the young guys, Beane and A's team mates said it themselves how he was a great clubhouse guy and most of the young guys looked up to him and his leadership. He is going to do just fine here.

Yeah, I'm not a big Colon fan, but he was pretty damn good last year. Alderson's no dummy, so let's see what happens.

By 2015 he will be traded when Harvey is set to return and the kids are ready.

Traded? Unless a team really screws up their inventory and orders too many peanuts, I don't think they will be able to trade him....

He'll likely be a reliable middle releiver - if he continues to stay a step ahead of the testers...

Somebody would take him, assuming the Mets eat part of the salary. I doubt they'd get a huge return but for a reliever or a depth outfielder type move why not?

Never doubt Sandy and his trades. They also said he wouldn't get Wheeler for Beltran..

Not saying you, NM, just in general. Somebody may like his expiring contract.
