This also buys him a ton more time and lifts the pressure.

I don't think that's the main reason he did it, but it had to be in the back of his mind.

That's kind of his job, isn't it? I mean, ultimately Riley makes the final call, but we hired him for his input on this type of stuff.

Is he really an expert on x's and o's though? Does he really know the CFB landscape as it pertains to hiring a new DC, what we'd be looking for, and the scheme changes that would follow?

He's a scouting/personnel guy.

Impossible. I'm pretty sure I've seen experts like Exorbitant and his ilk tell us this repeatedly.

It's about fucking time Riley did this. My guess is he didn't like the feeling of being on the hot seat like he was at his previous job, so he decided to do the right thing and fire Banker so he wouldn't end up on the hot seat here at Nebraska. Good job Coach Riley, You Da Man! lol

This gives me a lot of optimism about Riley. Now I hope he can bring someone legit here.

I mean I know his job is described as sort of all-encompassing, and from what I've seen/heard he's sort of Riley's behind closed doors sounding board on certain things, but IDK if his reach goes that far.

I'd hope that as a former NFL GM he'd have something of an idea.

Like I said, I think it had to be in the back of his head, but I have serious doubts about it being the main/real reason.

He's the only guy I have on the iggy.
You may know him as that "Faggoty little bitch."

Whew, I made the cut. I am not on Tomhusker's ignore list......yet.

Pretty sure you all know how I feel about this news about Banker.

Congrats to Stewart on the DC job at Rice.

Devaney served as the general manager of the St. Louis Rams from December of 2008 through the 2011 season, and was also the Rams’ executive vice president of player personnel in the 2008 season. Devaney was most recently a college scout for the Atlanta Falcons in 2014 and 2015.

OK got it.

Going from GM to scout is quite the demotion... Rams are/have been a tire fire though. I Wonder how often that happens.

I didn't say he was a good one

But he's got some experience in the area.

Hey, the Falcons struck gold on some serious players while he was there. If he had anything to do with Tevin Coleman and Taylor Gabriel then he knows what the fuck he's doing.

Oh I know he kicks ass in a player personnel role...I just don't know much about his GM experience. Like you said, the Rams are kind of a dumpster fire. There are about a million variables in that situation, though.

The biggest lost here was Gunderson, great in the recruiting office.

I got my wishes. Eichorst and Riley must read message boards and the media. Remember, sometimes they said the d coordinator was responsible for the poor punt returns because Banker called a prevent the fake defense every fricking punt.

Hopefully, the correct hires can be made. In my opinion, the hires can only be an improvement. Unless, of course, if they hired me, then Nebraska would blitz on every play.

For sure, but if he wants to go coach then more power to him. He'll be sorely missed.

Playing Cover 4 as your base defense is also pretty fucking gross if you asked me.
