Bama player had the ball, when he was down (video showed him pulling it in to himself). Ole Miss player may have ripped the ball out afterward, but it doesn't matter.

The replay looked like he pulled it towards himself, but I never saw him secure it.

For all I know it squirted between his legs when he pulled it towards himself.

I never understood how another player comes out of the pile with the ball if you are the one who originally had it. I played football, and I recovered fumbles. Hold on with a death grip......it's not that hard.
