Randall passed up a potential pick 6 to troll Hue Jackson. Mayfield trolling Hue here.

The Browns lockerroom must've high-key hated Hue Jackson.

Hell, remember Crowell's celebration earlier in the year?

Rothlisberger has 1 maybe 2 years left before he retires.

Flacco is on his way out

Baker will be the best QB in the AFC North within the next year or two.

But but but Andy Dalton .... :D

“Left Cleveland, goes down to Cincinnati, that’s just somebody that’s in our locker room, asking us to play for him, and then goes to a team that we play twice a year?” Mayfield said, per Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. “Everybody can have their spin on it, but that’s how I feel.”

Thoughts?
Jackson was allowed to stay long enough to have the worst record as a head coach and he found the best job he could get after getting fired from his old one. Baker is just trying to sound loyal to his franchise. It's nothing but business for both sides. Anyone who gets worked up about either side of this is not seeing the big picture.

Hue wouldnt even let Baker get ANY reps with the first team in training camp, and then had him benched to start the season.

Tyrod might still be playing if not for getting hurt becuase of Hue's stupidity.

Baker has been great since Hue has left. Hue was playing Hyde over Chubb- since Dorsey traded Hyde, Chubb has been one of the best backs in the league.

Its clear that Hue Jackson was doing WAAAAAAAAAY more to harm this team than help this team and that Baker is far and away better off with Hue somewhere else.

I think 90% of coaches that NEED to win games would start Taylor until they were eliminated from the playoff race. That's why he was brought in...to be that 1 yr guiding light so Hue's biggest mistake was not starting Taylor.

The Biggest mistake CLE has made with Jackson imo was retaining a coach that would be on the hotseat week one the following season. As we all know, they should've cleaned house after 2017 season and let Dorsey start anew...HC and QB. Hue never should've been in that picture.

Hue DID start Taylor until Taylor got hurt.

Taylor looked very mediocre (at best).....the Browns were getting embarrassed by the terrible Jets unti Tyrod got hurt and Baker came in and played lights out and got the W.

He did, but you're maybe missing my point. Mayfield probably was the QB1 in camp, who knows he certainly has been the better QB to date in CLE.

The point is Hue did what most other hotseat coaches would do...play the more experienced guy...not many HCs with jobs hanging by a thread will trust those remaining threads of their job to a rookie QB until they are forced to (injury) or the season is gone down the tubes.

Hue can and should take flak for a lot of the bad that happened in CLE in his 2+ seasons, but starting Taylor over Mayfield I'm wouldn't take him to task.

On the flip...a 1st yr HC in that same situation probably has more time...Mayfield probably sees the field a lot quicker as a the starter.

Seems like a really stupid thing to hold a grudge over. Baker is still understanding how the business side works. Hue Jackson got offered a job. He’s not going to say “no fuck the paycheck, this might hurt Baker’s feelings.”

Fuck that.

Mayfield was not the #1 QB in camp- in fact, Hue made a point not to give him ANY 1st team reps at all.

and i didnt necesarily think starting Tyrod was a bad thing--- but it became apparent that Baker was just better very very early on. The whole team knew it...you couldnt watch a Browns preseason game or practice without seeing the obvious- that Baker was the rare rookie that had the talent/work ethic to be successful right away.

I don't see why anyone cares.

I used to hate Mayfield. Now I like him. Fuck Hue Jackson and the Bengals.

Didn't Mayfield do something similar in college? Transfer from one school to a rival or some shit?
Sure did, transferred from Texas Tech to Oklahoma.

Not really a rival, but n the same conference. He was also not on a schollie when he left TTU. He walked on at OU and earned a schollie.

Big difference...

Hue basically went on a media tour blaming everybody but himself for Cleveland’s failures. It’s obvious baker didn’t like him And wasn’t going to pretend he does.

Hue was an awful coach but he can work were he wants. Man has got to get paid.

Baker needs to just shut up. The knock coming out was he is immature and picking stupid fights doesn't help him.

Mad at drafting Rosen? You don't know football.
I think Rosen was fine where he was drafted, but if the draft was re-done today I still think he is the 4th QB taken....

Baker is the #1 rookie by a wide margin.....Darnold and Allen 2 and 3, and Rosen 4.....all though Jackson might even be close to Rosen.

Rosen just needs time. I liked him as a prospect and he will be good eventually. I gotta say though- I am glad the Browns took Baker.

its not like Hue left his office one day and didn't come back from lunch....

Baker and the rest of the Browns are not saying that Jackson cant work for Cincy- they just arent going to be buddy/buddy with him and act like ole chums.

Hue is the one who would not give Baker ANY 1st team reps, in the preseason and up until Tyrod got hurt- when it was clear to anyone with eyes that Baker was simply better than Tyrod and gave the Browns a better chance to win games despite being a rookie.

If Baker and Chubb started from Game 1 instead of Tyrod and Hyde, the Browns might have an extra win or two and be in the playoff conversation in earnest.

Well...that vantage point I don't have...I don't understand not giving your QB2 not getting any reps with the starters, especially #1 overall pick....you know he's going to play at some point during the season. That's trying to send a message imo more than win games.

Once Mayfield's name was called he was already on a higher level within the organization than Hue was and maybe he couldn't handle it. Haley didn't seem to have a lot of positives to say about Mayfield either.

What would not be good imo is to retain Greg Williams as HC but winning a few games to close out the season could cause that to happen. In a year where two SB winning HCs are probably at the end of their current jobs, I would wait and see if I could get a sit down with John Harbaugh or McCarthy.

Williams' success would be short lived imo.
