SEC and ACC are playing.
From what I hear people in the know from the SEC believe that they need the B12 to hold out also. They pretty much expected the PAC and B1G to fold. If you get 3 of the P5 playing then you have a season and they can go to a BCS type model for the championship.

They still are the safest kids on campus; it's not like they're leaving. They just aren't traveling around the midwest. We have no idea what the long-term effects of COVID are. This heart stuff is coming out and it's particularly bad, even for young people. So your blanket statement is unknown.

The SEC is about the only one I could see taking the risk of the potential shit flinging nightmare they face if they play. All it would take is one little COVID flare up.

Then the students shouldn't be back on campus. They should be taking the classes online.
Risk/reward. Someone decided the reward of having students on campus for some portions of their education was worth the increased risk. All students at UM are required to be tested to come back to campus, have to quarantine for 14 days if they leave the state and instead of a Aug 31-Dec 18th semester in person, the in person portion is ending at Thanksgiving to limit the risk of students traveling around and spreading anything. Again, football is entertainment.

Honestly, I wouldn't care. I'd watch every second of it. But I suspect it's just a matter of time before it all crumbles.

If they're isolated on campus and being kept together "travelling around the midwest" isn't going to be a problem. They'd be kept together and away from the general public when traveling and only having contact with other players who have been under the same protocols.

So they would still be safer than anyone else on campus and safer than they would be at home.

They are unlikely to catch it under those circumstances and therefore unlikely to suffer heart issues from it.

Oh yea, im sure the SEC and ACC will hold out for a minute but its wishful thinking. Theyll eventually cave to the political pressure and shut it down

You keep mentioning how often they are/would be tested... do you think the frequency of testing affects how susceptible they are to it?

Is this a real question?

Of course not. What it does do is make sure they get quarantined and start treatment right away so that they can both prevent/limit an outbreak.

Yep I don't see two conferences playing college football but who knows...as soon as other conferences go down, there will be no point really.

The risk/reward would be very high.

The fact that you are dealing with a bunch of 18-22 year old kids though would lead one to believe that trying to play would end up blowing up in their faces though.

Good fucking luck keeping a bunch of 18-22 year old kids locked down and avoiding any outbreaks among each other for a whole football season.

Bubbles, like the ones that have been set up for the players work.

There's nothing out there that shows that the players would be less safe playing football.

Every team that has started fall sports training and been following the protocols hasn't been having any issues.
