I love this rationale. Tell me where there is a better QB option than Palmer and Stanton. Palmer is 16-6 as a Cardianal starter. 10 TD's and 3 pics before he got injured last year. I'll wait.
Yes Palmer is good when he isn't on injured reserve. Maybe they could use a QB that isn't injured most of the time.

I can understand going after AP if he is released. Giving up a 2nd or more to inherit his current contract. Understanding that....... Not so much.
The Vikings would want too much compensation for him.

If I knew the answer to that I'd be an NFL GM.
Let me give you the answer, they can't find that QB, so their crossing their fingers and hoping he stays healthy and building a good team in other areas that they can improve.

Crossing fingers and hoping he stays healthy isn't a good recipe for success. I'm sure they could acquire a decent QB via trade or in the draft.

No they couldn't. The Cowboys are in the same boat, a aging QB that had back surgery with no viable alternative to turn to.

Seattle just gave Lynch a shit Tom of money. Same age as AP, same miles on the tires, and Lynch is a more physical runner. Was that dumb move for Seattle considering Wilsons contract is coming up?

Lynch is a year and some change younger.... That makes a difference when that big #30 for running backs hits ..

Romo has been much more durable than Palmer regardless of his back surgery. I will agree that they should address the backup QB situation as Weeden isn't the answer.

Lynch running style and number of carries has put a physical toll on his body.

So you are suggesting they shouldn't go after AP because you feel they need to address the QB situation, yet you have zero input as to how. Can you come up with one example of a QB option better than Palmer / Stanton that they might be able to acquire? Just one? Usually when someone tries to make a point they have some sort of a suggested solution to back the point.

At best the window is closing for a SB for the Cowboys with Romo, perhaps they should be the ones going all in for AP.

Romo had one of his best seasons last year so that window is still wide open. There are a glut of good RB's available in the draft which may be a better option than acquiring AP.

I won't call it a glut. Gordan will be gone most likely before the Cowboys pick and Hurley is trying to recover from a serious injury. After that it really becomes a crap shoot, don't you think?

Forget any kind of long term planning from NFL teams (aside from franchise QB contracts). The league is almost purely year to year at this point. The Cards are smart to go after AP, nobody in that (or any) organization has job security past 2016 at best right now.. If you're not competing for a SB this year, you may not get the chance.

That said, I don't think they'll land him. If this report is true, IMO, it means that the Cards made their best offer and it wasn't good enough for the Vikes.

Most of these reports are coming out of Minnesota & not Arizona. I wouldn't put any stock into those reports till you see Cardinals beat reporters hinting that a trade is imminent or talks are ongoing. This is nothing more that Minnesota trying to increase the market for AP if they decide to trade him.
