I don't know if he needs to develop another pitch, or if he 'is what he is' which means, he's probably a long man/ spot starter. Right now, he can start for us b/c we're so pitching poor.

$7 mil is a lot for him, but then again, he's only 27 and lots of pitchers don't find themselves until their late 20's.

That seems to be same-same to me......He struggles mightily the 3rd time through....Honestly, he seems to almost breeze for a couple + of innings, and then the gorilla falls on him.

I also wonder about his mental toughness. He was pitching well, but we haven't hit at all today, and once he gave up a couple of more runs, I wonder if he doesn't just start loosing his confidence/concentration.

Never feel completely at ease with him as you might with Minor for examlpe.

I totally agree....But we've done such a poor job of developing pitching, I'd sure hate to see him cut free, and he goes to whomever, and looks like a different guy.....That was all I was trying to say.

And your 3 year assetment is pretty much right on......He doesn't inspire our confidence and I question his.....Moxy is a perfect word to apply here. Good job.

While we're at it, how about finding a CF that can hit. It is beyond me that almost a season has gone by and we can only hope for a infield hit. Not even close to what we need to contend. IDK maybe later.

Re Perez. Just not sure it is worth the investment next year and the year after after which he becomes unrestricted. He is young but let a younger guy compete. Guess he has the rest of the year to turn it around. Maybe 7 starts
