But, but.... that would be crazy.

NO one would want to trade for a guy we have no choice but to release right??

LOL - it sounds like that if this happened you would almost be as happy as if the Redskins went to the SB. Calm down - even if traded it will likely be for next to nothing. The value of losing the drama created with the departure of RG3 is substantially greater.

Well - reaching but perhaps some team who doesn't think that they are the frontrunners if he is cut wants to go this route & maybe believe that they can negotiate a new deal once he is on their team. Who knows & this also may be the Redskins throwing out BS.

Dude, if we got a 7th rounder for him, I view it much like selling a DVD Im never going to watch again at a yard sale for $1.

Its only a dollar, but its a dollar I wouldnt have had if I had simply thrown it out and the same gu who bought it from me fished it out of my trashcan for free.

Wether cut, or traded... We wont move him until at least the 9th. From a tactical standpoint, the longer we hold him, the more we make teams we may have to play hold up their own plans.

True & I will be happy with whatever they can get. However - again - this is peanuts compared to having it be another major step in changing the culture at Redskins Park & making the place as drama free as possible.

I may be wrong, but I think bob is going to be disappointed by the small number of teams interested in him, especially as a starter.

Just because someone did due diligence and inquired doesn't mean a trade is forthcoming. There is nothing there.

Thats the thing, this adds no drama. Its the off season. As I have long maintained, the only way they screw this up is to actually keep him on roster at this point. Well that or deal Kirk AND keep Bob on roster.

And i can think of two teams that NEED a QB, and have the cap space to take on the $16 million if it came down to it...

The Browns and the Texans come to mind.

Have to disagree.. .that would be like you walking up to your neighbors door to ask how much he might want for the weight bench he put out on the curb next to the garbage cans. You dont ask what it cost to buy something that every one prettyy much expects you to throw away any way.

Not sure which point (or both) you disagree with. That his demand may be low or my opinion no trade is forthcoming.

I disagree that a trade is out of the question. Is it a slam dunk? No. But if teams were not interested, you dont ask plain and simple. If you think you can get something for free, why offer to pay for it?

Curiosity is always a reason. So if there were inquiries (and that's not confirmed) a couple of teams made a call. Doing due diligence. They need a QB and want to see what is being offered. Shark, I get how you would love to get something for this clusterfuck, but it ain't happening. Bob would have to agree to a couple of things that just make no sense for him to do. His best bet is to get on the market and see if he can choose the best situation for him.

Actually, depending on who is calling, Bob might have no choice. Say its my two favorites, the Browns or the Texans. Either team COULD trade for him as is and afford his cap number. And in the event he actually plays well, they would have the option to tag him if he didnt want to work out a deal next off season. Now sure they COULD make it contingent on his willingness to rework the deal, but they wouldnt have to.

And I say again, if you KNOW that you could say assume the mortgage on a house, but its a $300k mortgage AND it would cost you another months pay as a down payment. Or you could simply wait til the owner walks out, get your own Mortgage for $50k and zero out of pocket.... why would you even approach the owner knowing he has to vacate in two weeks or swallow the $300k any way??

And if they trade him and he refuses to show, well then he doesnt get paid and the team that owns him still holds his rights. Refusal to show up for six games, basically puts you on the no show list, the year gets voided and the contract terms get commuted to the following year. Some how I doubt seriously Bob would risk another year on the bench and facing the same outlook with two years of rust on him.

Did I miss the news where Joe Gibbs and Vinny Cerrato are now running teams?

There are many teams that could afford his cap hit, but that doesn't mean they find him worth it. The league is aware of bob and all his faults. No one is going to pay him $16M this year for a oft injured, troubled QB. The only way bob gets traded is if he agrees to restructure his deal with the new team. And there is no reason for him to do that at this time. He and his agent are smart. They need to pick carefully where his next stint is. This will be his last shot. I see him going to a place where he can start. I don't think he will want to ride the pine for a few more years, his ego can't accept that. I see Hou, SF, and Cle as possible landing spots, with SF maybe the most likely. But his contract will be relatively cheap. I see a 2 year deal at 10m or so with limited guarantees.

I really don't have a problem with the team exploring all options before releasing the player. I agree with J_Y that it's a long shot but still worth trying.

I was one of the few who didn't have a problem when they extended his deal. Hell if it nets a 7th we have seen what GMSM can do with late round picks and that pick would be all the result of the team extending the deal. If he's cut it's was a no lose decision. The only risk they took was injury and when they sat him that ended that risk.

This is a long shot, but I could see it happening ONLY IF Bob is willing to restructure and he wants to go back to his home state (Houston) where he will get a fair shot at the starting job.

It's likely just bs IMO where the FO is trying desperately to drum up interest in him and get something/anything for him.
