I have seen bits and pieces regarding Asham and thought he needed his own thread. I,for one, would like to see him back. He can score and is tough as nails. Good protection and can play above the 4th line. Problem is the Shelley contract. Both Asham and Carbomb will want at least that if not more. I still don't understand that one.

He won't come back. Shelley took his money, his roster spot, and his number. There's just no place for him. Mostly because of the number.

...and truth be told, he did nothing to stand up for his teammates in the Chicago series. Nothing.

How many Hawks took runs at Giroux, Gagne and Leino and nobody answered?? Many.

One of Ashams' jobs is/was to protect the gifted players on this team. He didn't. Neither did Carbomb for that matter.

Shelley isn't here to act like he'll protect his brothers like those guys. He'll actually do his job.

I only agree with this to a point, I saw Asham as more of a energy guy like Lappy and Betts, he was way more versatile than those 2 but I didn't see his role as a enforcer.. Maybe because I thought there were better fighters on this team. JMO.

Asham is a really good fighter and I do think one of his jobs was to create space and provide protection for 2 young pups, Giroux and JVR. I think he may have lost his identity in the finals and thought he was an offensive player. Anyway, I hate to see him go.

i hate to see him go too.. for stretches he was the most dangerous offensive guy out there, he just couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with his shot, and he only got that chance if he got it out of his skates.. he was forever getting to the scoring area, in position to score, and then messing up.. poor guy..
