I’d have the Red Sox higher. Just talking this year, no future considerations, I’d take the Red Sox roster over all mentioned other than Yankees, Astros and Dodgers.

How the teams make the playoffs plays a role into my list. I don't see the Sox overtaking the Yanks/Rays for the division given the state of the bullpen (they've blown 15 of 31 save opportunities; they've either looked really good or godawful, no real inbetween) even though the lineup and rotation are very good. I still feel pretty confident in us reaching 90-95 wins and grabbing a Wild Card though.

May have to drop the Rays a bit though, I didn't realize how much their offense and pitching have fallen to earth

There's a better chance of Hand being traded at the deadline and Lindor being traded this winter than of the Indians winning the WS.

They’re playing good right now, and with a healthy Kluber, they’ll be favored in the wig most likely. Honestly their recent play has some how went under my radar or they would have made my list

Eh maybe. I'm by no means confident in the offense. They finally made the smart move and brought up Bobby Bradley, and Oscar Mercado has earned more PT as well. Kipnis has been playing out of his mind recently, and I'm confident that's an aberration rather than him turning it on.

We'll see what things look like in a month around the trade deadline. They have a complete cakewalk of a schedule leading up to the AS break - KC/Bal/KC/Cin. That might artificially inflate their record.

Personally, I think performance up to this point should be a huge factor in determining favorites at this time.
Meh, as you know the playoffs are almost random

Yes, and odds are if I do this thread again in a month, there will be new teams on it and some on the current list dropping off. To be a favorite to win it all though, you need to have a real shot at the playoffs, and those in control of the division go higher than those seeking a wc spot unless there’s a big gap in talent(Red Sox over Braves)

Still got a loooong way to go. Doesn't help their top 3 SP's are out. I really like the call-ups they made though, they actually have some solid hitters now and some depth. Hand or Bauer will most likely be dealt even if they are contending, a Bauer trade doesn't bother me as much as it did in the past bc the depth I have seen over the last few weeks with their young rotation. If they can somehow compete for the division I would like them to keep Hand for now though.

They could trade Bauer, Kluber, and lose Carrasco for the year and they'd still have a top 5 rotation in the AL if the rest of the starters are healthy. I love Hand, he's a beast, but we could get a massive haul for him this year, and I have 0 belief that this team can contend with the Yankees or Astros for an AL pennant, so might as well start building for the future.

As of right now:

1. Yankees
2. Dodgers
3. Astros
4. Twins
5. Cubs
6. Brewers
7. Braves
8. Nats
9. Reds
10. Red Sox/Cardinals

The NL Central is loaded with teams that can win it all. The record doesn't show it because they beat each other up.

Braves are 16-7 against the NL Central.

I like our club better than any NL except the Dodgers

We're less favored than a team we're 8 games up in the division right now by one poster. Ain't no thang. As it stands now, I'd give the Cubs a better shot in the playoffs than us. Hamels and Lester in the playoffs is a damn good 1-2 punch. If we get Bumgarner, I'd like our chances in a playoff series a little better. At any rate, I just hope we can avoid the Dodgers in the first round.

head-to-head is pretty meaningless. the Angels were 8-1 against the Red Sox in 2008... they lost 3 of 4 in the ALDS. Rockies took 2 of 3 from the Sox and outscored them 20-5 at Fenway in 2007... they got swept in the WS.
