The projected preseason AP poll has Nebraska at #33 (via Phil Steele). Last year Phil Steele predicted the preseason AP poll 100% perfectly.

So let's assume for a minute that he is correct. Looking back on Nebraska's history since Bop has been here, what are the chances we end up somewhere around 33rd by the end of the season? This would have to mean we would be around 7 wins.

I decided to compare each season and see where we started vs. where we ended up.

2008: Started #51, Ended #32.
2009: Started #24, Ended #14.
2010: Started #8, Ended #20.
2011: Started #10, Ended #24.
2012: Started #17, Ended #25.
2013: Started #18, Ended #26.

On average, Bo's teams are starting the season ranked 21st in the country, and ending the season ranked 24th.

My question is this........are we looking at a 7-win kind of season? Or was it the curse of the Taylor Martinez that caused the fall?

In Bo's first 2 seasons we actually improved drastically from the start of the season to the end. Insert Taylor Martinez in 2010, and we do the exact opposite.

Do we break the mold this season? Or do we win 7 games and continue to follow suit?

I'm just sayin.....it's kinda scary seeing that we are projected 33rd preseason.

My opinion is that I actually do believe it was the curse of the Taylor Martinez.

Every team that was around us in turnover rankings while Taylor was here was winning 2 or 3 games a year, yet Nebraska was managing 9 or 10 wins.

Taylor is a great guy, but Brasky put it best a couple years ago......the cancer of the team needs to go, and it is gone.

I think if we stay healthy we should be just fine , 10 wins.

I am with you about Taylor.

It doesn't mean that we are projected to finish 33rd. Most people do their rankings looking at who are the best teams now.

I know, but I was comparing more how we ended to how we started than anything.

"The Fixtures" Meredith and Stienkuhler contributed to the fall as well. It seemed like a lifetime until those two were finally washed out of the system. They hung around like Taylor.

Just go already.

If we follow the current Bop trend we should start 33rd and end around 40th.

Never really thought about it, but somebody will become the first ever 14-1 and 15-0 teams.

8 & 4, see one non conference game lose, just don't see them winning at MSU, Whisky or Iowa this year.

That is not true. BYU went 14-1 in 1996.

Really?

Must be a Hawaii in there.

Edit: Damn

"Pigskin Classic"
WAC Championship
Cotton Bowl

I forgot the WAC was already playing conference championship games back then.

I don't have a complex pointing out 4 possible loses this year minus post season. If I'm out here harassing the liquor store clerk 5 times this season, they know me, I may get put on restrictions. I don't see that happening however. The b10 media days news may be all vaniller but I like what I'm hearing from the coaches and players, they needed to change up some things and they are
