4 teams competing for 1 spot:

1) Steelers - huge longshot and almost not worth talking about;
2) Ravens - next biggest longshot, imo. I don't like the chances of them going into Cincy without a running game and with a banged up Flacco, against a very hungry and more talented team. Ravens should lose;

That leaves the Dolphins and the Chargers.

Hottest team right now is the Chargers. They already won @ KC. Now they get KC at home, when KC will almost certainly be playing backups.

That leaves the crux of the entire playoff picture on whether or not the limping Dolphins can beat the Jets.

I would put my $ on the SuperChargers!

I had been thinking that Miami was most likely to get that last spot, but getting shut out at Buffalo last week wasn't exactly confidence inspiring. I think that SD is probably at least as likely as the Phins to win this week.

Originally, I was penciling the Dolphins in for that last spot, but I'm wavering now. Rex Ryan and the Jets are playing for Rex's job (maybe) and the Dolphins can't protect Tannehill at all. KC will probably rest some starters since they're locked in the 5th seed and SD is playing lights out.

If San Diego gets in, that would be 3 teams from the AFC West. After so many years of mediocrity or worse from this division, it's sure nice to see the West get back on top!

All Miami has to do is win at home regardless of what the others do. They be the favorite.

not true...if both Miami and Balt win and SD loses, BAlt wins the tiebreaker w/ Miami and is the 6th seed

I think it's one of the mist interesting weeks the NFL has had in years...4 teams still in contention (granted Steelers only by a miralce) and not one of them actually controls their own destiny....should be a great weekend for football.

The Steelers aren't as long of a shot as you think.

We have to beat Cleveland - can do.

The Ravens should lose to the Bengals.

The Jets MIGHT beat the 'Fins. 50-50 there.

It all comes down to the Chiefs. If they play their starters they'll beat the Chargers, if not then the Chargers get the #6 seed and head to the house of #3, whomever that is. Right now it's Cincy but that could change?

Needing 3 teams to lose is a MAJOR long shot.

I think any of the 4 teams have as much of a shot as any. Glad I have the NFL package.

That's not necessarily true. SD beat KC in KC in Week 12 and KC lost at home to the Colts last week in a game in which the Chiefs had a strong incentive to win.

San diego has bad tie breakers...

If they win and either team wins they dont make it...
if they lose and the others lose they dont make it...

So of the 3 teams they are least likely to make the playoffs...

Miami is probably the most likely especially since they are playing the Jets...

Assuming all games are 50%

Balt has a 43.75% chance
miami has a 37.5%
SD has a 12.5%
pitt has a 6.25%

Of the four teams left the likeliest winner of their game is Pittsburgh, who also needs the most help to get in. San Diego would be the second likeliest winner of their game because Kansas City is very likely to rest starters. They also need the second most help. Miami is at home and should beat the Jets, I think at least 60/40. Of course I am biased, but I believe the Ravens have the toughest game to win on the road at Cincinnati who is 7-0 at home this season. If I had to predict the sixth seed I would go with Miami as the first choice, with San Diego the second.

I'm not getting my hopes up on the Chargers, but they'll know if they have a chance by kickoff. Miami, Baltimore and Pittsburgh kickoff at 1pm est....Chargers 4:25pm est.

Andy Reid said the other day the Chiefs are going to mix & match on Sunday. They'll play some starters & rest some.

I think the Dolphins are the most likely to win their game. The Jets are to Jeckell & Hyde. One week they play great the next they're awful. Which Jets team shows up in Miami on Sunday is anybody's guess.
