Honestly, that was the best shutdown of a top line I've ever seen. If the lightning want to waste their St. Louis/Lecavalier/Connelly line by having them skate in circles around center ice so be it. I didn't get to watch the game but I'm willing to guess a lot of the standing around was done when the Flyers had their 3rd line out against Tampa's top line.

The Flyers look petty and anybody who supports making a defensive scheme illegal is a lazy thinker. I don't get why teams are so baffled by the trap, there are ways to beat it and if you can't adapt that's your problem.

I agree with what the flyers did. Also I don't understand why a whistle blew...there is no rule saying the flyers have to move the puck. Heck what's to stop a team on a pk playing 4 corners for the whole 2mins? Or playing keep away when winning?


I agree 100% with the comments by the flyers players and nhl players. National tv both teams have great offense why not showcase it? Sure what Tampa did was legal but its not good for the game.


Might win games but in the long run like we are experiencing now isn't good. Gotta pay for the success down the road

That's why you need to gameplan against the trap. The Bruins did it pretty successfully in the playoffs last year, it can be beat. If a team wants to play it and play boring hockey let them sit back while you dump and chase and light them up on the scoreboard.

You're ok with a team not even trying? Because thats why the Flyers did. They didnt even try to beat the trap. They stopped just short of bending over and lubing up their asses. Its not like Tampa Bay won the cup, its not like they're undefeated. Their trap HAS been beaten, and WILL be beaten again. The Flyers were a disgrace to hockey last night IMO.

Look at who was on the ice for Tampa when this happened.

Its the same concept the Devils employed against the Jagrangers with Madden and Pandolfo. The Flyers maintained puck possession the whole time. Its not like the Flyers refused to challenge the defense scheme the entire game.

Almost lost is the key phrase there. They still won, and they did it by chipping up the boards and then using the dump and chase. Don't start questioning hockey knowledge because somebody disagrees with you. Never said it's simple to beat this system, but people say it has no place in the NHL it is absurd.
