He said he wanted to go somewhere to compete for a Cup. But they always say that, don't they? Pretending that he means it, let's run down the candidates:

Lightning (Yzerman says they're out)
Rangers (rumored not to have the highest bid)
Kings (made a nice video)
Flames (if he signs with the Flames he's dumber than Ilya Kovalchuk)
Flyers (the Flyers appear to be in the throes of madness right now)
someone out of left field?

I just read that Richards' relationship with Jay Feaster is playing a big part in the Flames' pitch. Does that cancel out the fact that he'd be one of the younger players on the team?

LA may also be a front runner. I think we'll find out tomorrow. I cant see Richards dragging this out that long.

I say NYR or LAK.

Calgary might be a darkhorse contender now. From what I hear, Feaster/Iginla made a hell of a pitch and offer to him.

I guess the Kings might be in 3rd place right now. Unless it's about the money it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I mean the Kings would be unbelievable at Center with Kopitar, Richards & Richards. Plus they've got a solid group of wingers. The defense is young & talented. Two very good young goalies & a very deep farm system.

To me it's a Stanley Cup winning combination for many years to come.

One thing that really makes me laugh about the Richards race is how the Rangers are saying "We have the right to match any offer". What right? He doesn't belong to you from what I understand. Do they mean birthright because they are the all mighty New York Rangers?

What? Who's given the Rangers the right to know exactly what the other teams have offered Richards? That's BULLSHIT!!

That opinion comes the way of Larry Brooks of course, who isn't the least bit arrogant or an idiotic homer.

On NHL on the Fly Craig Button said he will be SHOCKED if Richards doesn't become a Ranger. Well I for one hope Button is SHOCKED beyond belief.

The guy who had the sense enough to put Martin St.Louis on waivers. I am SHOCKED anybody still listens to him.

There's a reason Button & Milbury are on TV instead of a NHL front office these days. They enjoy blowing smoke up our asses & get paid to do so.

Not at all. With Simmonds left to be signed, the Flyers still have *4.4 mil in space. There is still enough room to bring Gagne back. :)

* It's currently at 3.3, but when Laperierre goes on long term injured list it goes up to 4.4.

And if/when we waive and/or demote Walker, Leighton, and S******, thats another 3 million. Though the Shelley boner doesnt seem to be going away.

A little research can be your friend, Nate. Remember that Brad Richards is 31 years old. Amongst the forwards, only Iggy (34), Olli Jokinen (32), and Tom Kostopolous (32) are older. Tanguay is the same age.

As far as the defence is concerned, only former teammate Cory Sarich is older at 32.

And yes, Kipper is older at 34. That's it. Everybody else currently signed on the Flames is either the same age or younger than Brad Richards.
