I blame management for that for one main reason. There are several ways to play basket and one of those ways is a more physical play that puts the players at a greater risk for injuries to happen. Phil Jackson had the same issue with Shaq and Kobe and changed the game so that the stars would avoid injury as much as possible. Obviously the riskier plays have greater rewards in wins, but when you have a bunch of weak losers, it's redundant to play for 55 wins and the playoffs. Especially when you have a bunch of one year contracts and no long term goals.
