No but in the NFL it always happen even in close games. It happens in basketball and football all the time during the regular season at least. One thing I do know about basketball is that in the playoffs you would never see players shake hands after games until it is the final game of the series

That is just a series deal. Baseball does the same thing.

I've seen players hug it out and "chill" in warmups together before Playoff games.

you're right. It is the money, that is what drives the league and owners, but I will still blame the society fed, "everyone gets a trophy" mentality to those players who decide to lay down and figure they don't have a shot at beating a better team, so whats the point in trying.

disappointing too that NBA fans are completely fine with this way of play. Let's just skip the regular season, seed the teams immediately and start the playoffs. Everyone just is ok with what the expected seeds are.
Ill put it to you like this: the Bucks were a really confident 8 seed last year and one of their players even talked some trash a bit on the Heat. They obviously tried hard in their first game but got beat pretty easily, IIRC. And then they got completely annihilated and swept.

That Bucks team would be as good as a 3 seed in the East this year

so the league just sucks. It is extremely power heavy, that goes to 2 teams. Heat/Pacers.

What fun! Cant wait to tune in to find out what happens tomorrow night!

Seriously, Stern is a terrible commish and his retirement cant come soon enough, he has absolutely ruined this league and killed any parity that there was.

People act like there were so much parity before stern. In the NBA it is all about the superstars. The best teams are usually those with the superstars

Sorry guys, but Jordan/Bulls were the clear cut #1 team in the entire LEAGUE in the mid 90s, not just the East, but teams tried their hardest to knock the Bulls off, while the Bulls did whatever they could to win every game to prove they were the best.

This "Oh its just one game, no big deal, we will still be #1, 2, 3, hell it doesn't matter as long as we are #8." attitude has ruined the enjoyment of a regular season basketball game.

You rant is coming off like an old guy yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

The Miami heat are less than one year removed from the second longest win streak in the history of American professional sports and you claim that this generation doesnt care. The Heat's record last year was better than 3 of those bulls teams that won championships.

The top 18 records in NBA history (by winning %) 6 have occurred since 2000. What your saying doesnt jive with the stats. Miami is trying to go to 4 straight finals. Something that the bulls never did and hasnt been done in 30 years. They are bored a little with the regular season. That is natural. It's called being human. They are looking at the finish line.

But dont confuse smiles and handshakes as a sign of weakness. The Heat want to win these games. It's just sometimes a little harder for championship teams to get up every night on the road the same way the home team can who has the two time defending champs in their building.

One, im actually young, and most of these guys in the league are older than me or ARE my generation.

Two, I am not bashing the Heat. This is not a Heat problem, this is an NBA leaguewide issue.

The league probably would be better if Lebron tried out for baseball for the next 2 years:lol:

The East is this way, yes. The West is interesting.

The west will have something like 5 teams with 50+ wins this year, then go into the Finals and lose to the heat. Same story, different season.

i understand your point.. but it impossible to prove those bulls team go to the finals if jordan plays.. because it didnt happen. injuries. who knows. what i do know.. i would LOVED to have seen the Dream and Clyde needing rings for their legacy vs Jordan and Pippen as 3 time champs rolling in.

now those finals would have been epic.

Except that they very almost didn't lose. Dallas beat the Heat a few years back. The Spurs came very, very close. Its not a foregone conclusion that a contender can't stand up to the Heat.

But there aren't many contenders. The Heat will see 2. The Pacers and whoever survives the West

Pending health of course

No, because the East you had..

Bulls
Pacers
Knicks
Heat
Magic

All with all stars. The reason the Bulls overcame that was because they had that competitive edge and will to win it. I hated the Bulls growing up, but I look back on them and have to give them respect for what they did. Sorry, your Heat are not the Bulls of the 90s even though Miami wants to so badly and the media wants us so badly to acknowledge the Heat as the new Bulls. Different league, different times. League is much more pussified now.

parity back in the day was so much better.

East:
Bulls
Heat
Knicks
Magic
Pacers
Pistons

West:
Spurs
Blazers
Lakers
Sonics
Jazz
Kings
T-Wolves
Suns

All listed teams absolutely despised each other, no one was seen hugging and laughing before and after games.

I don't know if the league wants the Heat to be physical. Beasley and Wade are the kind of guys that would throw you down the stairs

They probably realized how much money the owners were making off them wanting to kill each other and decided to get their piece of the pie. Smart move financially they are all on the same team.

I actually agree with you. I must now go off and contemplate whether to take a cleanse or hang myself.

stupid thread is stupid

They are not gladiators you pay to fight to the death, these are professionals at the highest level of their craft and people. Not to mention when you could be playing anywhere next week it does not make sense to hate each other off the court.

And every player that goes out there is trying to win that game, despite what you see post game.

What doesn't make sense about that?

It is a game to you but these players have been training and working at that one skill since highschool and earlier.

Or do you think the Harlem Globetrotters are the best of the best?
