Now that he is supposedly out for the season again, do you look into trading Deng and/or Boozer to acquire assets for depth purposes?
Deng is going to be a free agent at season's end, and at that point I say you have to move him by the deadline. Is it worth paying a 29-year-old guy $65-70 million just so you could be a low Playoff seed this season? I just don't see it.
Carlos Boozer has long been rumored to be amnestied after the 2014 season, but I just don't see how you you could just throw away someone as productive as he is. His soon-to-be expiring contract could also carry a lot of value this year.
Back to Rose, he is now officially injury-prone, and it's not entirely his fault. As a coach, Thibs is a good disciplinarian and a good defensive-minded coach, but he's not very creative at all, and his veteran starters are almost constantly beat heading into the postseason. And what is with his man crush on Kirk Hinrich?
We've seen Rose get off to slow starts before. Other than the frontrunners (Hammer), no one should be surprised at that. Remember when he had an ankle injury to start his sophomore campaign of 2009-10? He was thoroughly outplayed by then-rookies Brandon Jennings Jennings and Tyreke Evans, only to average something along the lines of 23 points and 7 assist in the second half of the season.
I had all the confidence that Rose was going to gradually get better as the season went along, but it's a shame that such a promising young player and a great humble kid went down yet again.
He may not have the same physical gifts, but could this commercial have been a shot at LeBron James? He'd never admit it, but I think it is...
