It's week 10. Alex just set a personal best for wins in a season.

For those that want to credit a QB with wins.

Good game by Alex. This game was pretty much over in the 3rd quarter.

Good game by Alex. This game was pretty much over in the 3rd quarter.

I wish he didn't throw the INT. It wasn't that he got an INT, that doesn't really matter in this game, But, this was the first stupid INT of the season *I believe there were bad but not stupid INTs before) and it ruined his 152 passes in the Red Zone without an INT. Plus, while passer rating is flawed and the win is the only thing important, it knocked his rating 11-12 points down to 81.8. BUT

9-1!!! First winning season in forever!

I would not be surprised to see them get 12 wins and the #2 seed in the playoffs; something that would have sounded absurd back in August.

12 wins? That means 3 wins in the next 6 games. I would be surprised if we didn't get 12 wins (going 2-4 to finish the season). Considering who we're playing, Harbaugh's preparation, and the ineptness of the rest of the NFC West ensures (almost) 3 wins if we stay healthy.

Alex is playing decent. He is managing the game not making the big mistakes and not losing the game for the Niners. Great... no. But compared to the Alex we used to know a huge improvement.

this isnt baseball, Alex is not "managing the game" he is running the offense the way the coaches expect him to do. I agree that he has shown improvement.

The day Alex starts throwing receivers open and delivering the ball a lot sooner, will be the day we can start saying he is playin great

If only Alex could stop missing wide open receivers he might be a near elite QB. He doens't have the Steve Young kind of touch (but who does right?); I forget whom but he over-threw a guy who would've easily scored today...

He seems to have great accuracy most of the time when the OL gives him room to step into his throws, but it seems like he just completely blows it on the accuracy once or twice a game without fail (or with fail if you prefer).

He threw a highball to Braylon Edwards that went through his hands and over threw Michael Crabtree as Crabtree beat his man by a couple of steps

I agree that he still leaves too many big plays on the field and if he could just get that cleaned up we might not have an issue at QB.

But I will say these past 3 games are probably the best Alex has looked ever. The Crabtree to Smith connection today was the best I've seen it, He actually is starting to get a nice repertoire with Williams, and he was actually involving Davis and just barely missed a couple of big plays with him.

I'm actually cautiously (I stress cautiously) optimistic come playoff time we'll actually have a viable passing attack along with our running attack and can legitimately make some serious noise in the playoffs.

I get so damn pissed at these missed big plays. Seems like every week there is some one pretty wide open and Smith misses him. He makes a lot of other throws, and some much tougher, but seems to just miss some of these gimmies.

For him to ever be considered our QB of the future, he needs to start hitting these freebies more so then not and stop leaving all these plays out there.

that miss to crabtree for a sure td seemed like a timing/touch issue. a bit more arc and he throws the perfect pass for crabtree to run under. the offense overal seemed kinda lackluster in it's performance. maybe looking forward to baltimore affected things.

The offense was lackluster but the ball was being moved and plays were there it's just the execution needs to be there.

So while I would've liked to see Smith hit more and the offense do better I'm satisfied with the thought that things are continuing to grow and take shape.

I mean Smith and the offense in general is light years ahead of where they were at preseason and the first couple weeks of the season. But there is still plenty of room to grow and improve which has me excited about the team.

Because what I think has been lost in all of this especially since we've been successful is that this is an offense that's still operating in it's first season with a short offseason under a brand new scheme. So while we like to stack the offense up against the likes of the Packers and Saints those are both teams that have had the same scheme and stability for a few years now.

Everyone keeps saying that, and in terms of the red zone I absolutely agree. But I thought the team moved the ball about as well as it has otherwise. We marched up and down the field at will all day yesterday, and never punted until we had a 23-point lead and started to ease up a bit. Now we've just got to punch it in when we have the chance.

Your math is flawless. I have them losing a close one to the Ravens because of the travel factor on a short week and getting dominated by the Steelers because Rothlisberger will pick them apart with no 49er pass rush. Then each team usually has a game that they lose that they shouldn't lose every season. The 49ers have not had theirs yet. I don't see them sweeping the division. Probably will be the Seattle game up there. 12 and 4 is pretty damn good though and should be good enough for the 2 seed.

The perfect pass to Davis where Davis was unaware of where he was on the field and stepped out of bounds shows Smith's beautiful touch and the ineptness of his receivers. None of them seem to be smart, aware-of-the situation-type players. Three drops by Edwards three by Davis' plus the gaffe on the long pass and one dropped by Gore. That is 8 more completions he could have had.

it always seems like either smith makes a great throw and it's a drop or a guy is wide open and smith misses him. if the stars aline in the playoffs we could drop like 50 on the packers lol

Davis kills me sometimes. I can't believe he didn't get the first down on that play where he stopped, tried to juke the DB, and was brought down a yard short. His field awareness is still poor at best and he just doesn't play physically with the ball in his hands. If he's got a step on a guy, he's great. But he constantly tries to juke people, and I can only recall it actually working one time in his career (can't recall when, though it was earlier this season; I just remember being shocked that it actually worked for once). Maybe Anthony Dixon needs to have a talk with him. Dixon seems to have finally figured out how to stop dancing so much and run forward.

Agreed. The potential is definitely there for this offense, but they just haven't been able to put it together yet.

Yeah you are thinking of the Crabs one. Wasn't enough air or arch on it. You could tell he was pissed at himself on that one.
