Ha! good for Trout. I hope Harper feels like an idiot trying to recruit him like 10 minutes after signing his deal.
It's probably a cashier's check like the one Navin R Johnson got in The Jerk....."four hundred and thirty big ones, four hundred and thirty dollarinies, four hundred and thirty donuts"
lock him up now because if he has another killer year, that number is just going to be bigger.Oh, I agree. This just wasn't on my radar at all so it came as a bit of a shock when I saw it flash up on MLB Network. I thought maybe an in-season extension was more likely. Maybe I was just distracted by Harper's FA process and how drawn out it was.
Too bad GF III was such a POS.
And it's a crying shame that John Cazale died so young, he was dynamite in everything I saw him in.... haven't seen Dog Day Afternoon yet, though.
I think Bonilla's contract extends beyond the expected extinction of the Sun....I think I read that Bobby Bonilla will still be getting paid by the Mets when Trout and Harper's contracts expire...
Meryl Streep was Cazale's gal and she took care of John until he died from cancer. He did like 5 movies in total, was like 5 for 5.....All nominated for best films.....Pacino's favorite actor to work with.....
I think I read that Bobby Bonilla will still be getting paid by the Mets when Trout and Harper's contracts expire...
Meryl Streep is a God damned national treasureMeryl Streep was Cazale's gal and she took care of John until he died from cancer.
Pacino said he never saw such devotion anywhere else...
I saw a really good question get asked today...
Does this put extra pressure on Sciocia to win this year? If he doesn’t, Will the Angels go in a different direction next year?
What do you guys think??
Pressure to win what? His fantasy league?
Clearly, whoever posted that doesn't follow baseball much.
Trout is EASILY the better player and it's not even close. Harper would be lucky to crack top 50 all time at the rate he's going. Trout is on pace to be top 5 all time and certainly #1 of the modern era. He also has been playing on a team with far less support.
Here's what looks like evidence to me of a theory I've been rattling around in my head...
Trout is the perfect example of how one great talent, one player, simply cannot make a baseball team good all by himself. All the greats have had great seasons on lousy teams, and Trout is currently in that place.
Of the 'big 3' sports, the whole world knows the NBA stars, they are right behind soccer stars as the globes most famous sportsmen, and just as famous in the US. One NBA star can change an entire team from bad to good. Can't do that in baseball. In the NFL it's a middle ground because you can get one player as a game changer but it can only of course be one position, QB. One great QB can change a team from bad to good. Who are the super famous NFL stars...QBs. Now then, any MLB stars that famous? Nope. The most famous is of course Harper but he is nowhere near the best (Trout).
I guess my point is, I see a connection between how much one man can affect a team and how much fame those men will get. More game changing = more famous. The LeBron James in 2012 of MLB (Trout) is barely known in his own country.
