We traded Lee to the Browns for a 2017 7th round pick.

Guess when we drafted Bradley Pinion it was obvious Lee would most likely be gone. I was actually expecting Lee to beat him out in training camp though.

I dont really get why the Front Office felt Andy Lee needed to be replaced though. He's only 32 which isn't that old for a punter and is one of the best in the league.

we can only point to salary cap, but if you think about it.....$2.55M is a LOT for your punter. Pinion can supposedly kick off well too, so the only question is his holding ability? IMO this move is worth the chance, cause you have the option of extending someone else.

Even if Pinion is a few yards shorter, as long as he has the hang time.

How many of the troops on Harbaugh's last roster does that make shown the door?

It was a salary cap move. You figured when they drafted a kicker in the 5th round, something was going to happen

I don't know about that. Holding ability isn't something that he needs to have developed already. I don't know that Lee had ever held before joining the Niners, and he did fine. The bigger questions are whether Pinion can consistently get the range Lee could, and the directionality. We shall see.

Lee predates Harbaugh. This definitely is not moving out "Harbaugh's guys." The roster is and always has been Baalke's with perhaps one or two exceptions (Jonathan Martin and Josh Johnson).

I don't know man. Sure Lee is expensive, but he's been very stable. Not liking this.

when a player decides to retire...Willis, Borland, J. Smith, and Davis...that is NOT being shown the door. These players chose to leave on their own.

rats leaving a sinking ship...some on their own, some forced, and some that will "retire" once they see what a wreck this team is becoming...

at least, that's what the guy on the Oakland radio station said

If that is true, that players would rather quit than play for the Yorks and their puppet coach we are in big trouble.

You realize how BULLSHIT this statement is, right? You mean to tell me that players are actively saying FUCK IT and forgoing literally MILLIONS by quitting merely because they allegedly don't like the direction this ship is sailing in? The Raiders' mere existence proves this thought process false.

I would certainly hope that is the case. Imagine how bad a work environment would have to be for guys without any other skills to give up million dollar salaries.

What work environment? This is precisely the reason this thought process is bullshit. They have had exactly, what, two weeks of OTAs? As in optional. Jimmy T hasn't even had ONE mandatory practice and yet players don't like how things are being run? GTFOH. This team is the perfect storm of fuckary with just enough random shit happening to think that it HAS to be linked. But really. Who DIDN'T see Crab, Cox, Culliver, and Iupati leaving via FA? Who, after trading for Stevie Johnson and drafting Brandon Thomas and every CB available from the 4th round on last year truly looked at our impending FAs and said, "yup, we are re-signing everyone"? Outside of Willis and Borland retiring (and later AD), nothing about our offseason was shocking...not even the coaching search given the amount of shade thrown Harbaugh's way during the season.

Jimmy T was LOVED by the defensive guys. So Borland, Willis, and Justin Smith, all of whom have sung Tomsula's praises, weren't going anywhere based on who the coach was. Their respective decisions were made for their own reasons, but there is ZERO evidence to show that Fuck-face Jed or Jimmy T were the reasons why.

Good points. Anyone who looked at the team's salary cap situation before the end of last season new the team couldn't resign everyone, especially with the amount of money being thrown at them. Did we really expect the 49ers to try and match AZ's offer for Iupati when he can't pass block worth a damn. Would like to have seen Gore back but for what Indy paid him when Hyde is sitting on the bench? Crabtree wasn't coming back regardless with how bad he looked last year.
