Don't like losing Simmons. I thought he was supposed to be untouchable

The Braves ended up with the Angles top two pitching prospects, a good hitting stopgap SS & $3 mil.

I think they did pretty well.

Sean Newcomb (top Angels pitching prospect; strong strikeout rates, lots of walks) and Chris Ellis are also part of the trade (in b4 TINSTAAPP).

Seems like a good one for both sides. Braves get a good stopgap (who has had a pretty underrated career) and two intriguing prospects, Angels get a young, top shortstop that's locked up to a team friendly contract through 2020. Even if he ends up being merely league average offensively, he'd be very valuable. I could see him hitting for a decent average.

Best Brave fielding SS I ever saw. Sorry to see him go, but his value is very high right now. Sounds like a couple more great young arms coming over. The Braves are stacked with young, cheap arms now. They will be able to make any move needed to put a good team on the field when the new park opens in 2017.

Motherfucker.

It's a decent return, I know, but damn, if we're gonna be contenders by 2017, we probably need some established talent in the mix, and the best defensive shortstop in the game, especially after trading Peraza is gonna hurt.

And pitching prospects are nice, but it seems every nice prospect we have gotten the last two years have been pitching prospects. I mean, we're gonna need to be able to hit too.

I guess Freeman will be next.

Rebuilding sucks.

It sucks worse than when my 3 favorite players were gone in a 3 year span with Chipper retiring, McCann signing with the Yankees and letting Tim Hudson go to the Giants.

Agreed. Looks like we are in for another tough year next year Outlaw.

Certainly looks that way.

Last year was just the third losing season the Braves have had that I can remember.

The choke jobs certainly sucked, but this is the first I've experienced rebuilding.

Poor Andrelton. Everyone that is acquired by the Angels turns to shit.

Dan Uggla's contract comes off the books this season. Acquiring prospects is great, but with all this money we have, signing a proven commodity wouldn't hurt things.

I bet Nick Markakis is regretting signing that 4 year deal last offseason.

Going to miss Simmons a lot. I wonder if they'll trade Freeman next.

I wonder if they will trade Tehran now?

They would be selling sort of low on him if they did. He regressed last year. Better to keep him to rebuild value and flip him at the deadline? Regardless, teams would be lining up for a guy like Teheran. Red Sox might be at the front of that line(I would hope).
