I think he needs to be among the WRs we cut. The other being Garçon.

Quite possible - unless he renegotiates - since his dead cap # for next season is only $2 million. Jackson's # is @ $6 million which would suggest hanging around (his # for 2017 is only $1 million).

That being said I would love for them to renegotiate with Garcon (ala Hall) since he just seems like a great guy & does a lot of the little things that you don't always hear about on the field.

Roberts is cut #1 after the season is over. Garcon I would want to keep. Going into next year We will have the top 3 and Grant and Ross. Grant is a Gruden favorite b/c of his blocking and route running. But Ross is the WR with the higher upside.

We still haven't seen what Garcon and Jackson can do with a full season with KC. I say keep them both and if we ever get a running game we will be a top 10 offense in the league.

It all depends. I really like Garcon, but he will have a $10 M cap hit next season & will only cost @ $2 M if they get rid of him. Jackson would cost @ the same but his dead money is @ $6 M so it really doesn't make sense to get rid of him.

Hopefully - they figure this out & renegotiate a deal with Garcon that is agreeable to all.

Ask Kirk if he wants Garçon and Jackson back. I do agree Roberts is gone, but I think this team is missing him right now too, and not just in the return game. He had a bad case of the dropsies earlier, but Grant has been non-existent, and Ross fell down on that catch that would have been at least 20 more yards.

IF Garcon and Jackson come back no need to draft a WR. Ross can be a #4 WR on this team. Way more upside than Grant.

Got to disagree. We need at least ONE WR taller than Frodo Baggins that is capable of being one of our top three. And not simply because he is on the roster.

For all the talk of Garcon doing the little things, things that don't show up on stats sheets etc. What has shown up on the stats sheet hasn't hardly been impressive. In the last 29 games, 10 of which have been victories, Garcon has averaged 4.3 catches, 47 receiving yards, 10.7 ypc a game and scores a TD every 5 games or so.

I guess the real question is, who/what is mostly at fault for that less than unimpressive production. Garcon, the QB play, play-calling, the circus atmosphere that was present particularly last year.

If the signing of Laron Byrd gives us any indication, SM as promised, will look to get bigger at WR like he's doing everywhere else. Garcon is and has been a pretty good #2 possession receiver, but honestly, he doesn't scare anyone, even though he's being paid like he keeps defensive coordinators awake in the middle of the night.

We have the money to keep both WR's. Their is no reason to cut Garcon. No reason to invest a high draft pick in a WR. With Jackson back Garcon is been playing better. IF we stick with these two their should be no problem.

You need to look at the bigger picture. The reason to at least consider getting rid of Garcon is his big cap number & relatively small dead cap number. The money could be used elsewhere. Again - if he were to agree to a renegotiated contract with friendlier numbers then you might be correct.

The only way we will be better as a team if we cut Garcon is if we land Jeffery in FA. If Garcon refuses to renegotiate I would not cut him. Garcon will make 7.6 mil next season. After seeing what Crabtree got I would keep him. Their is no need to break up the nucleus of Jax, Garcon, Reed, and KC. We will have plenty of money next year even after the KC contract.

Pierre Garcon

To be clear the difference between keeping & not keeping Garcon for next season is roughly $8M (assuming no renegotiated contract). The question for SM & co. is could that money be applied elsewhere or do they view Garcon as being that valuable. IMO - they will find a middle ground & renegotiate his contract.

Deanpet,

You appear to be thinking in the old Redskins mindset. This is somewhat tied to emotions and familiarity. I truly do not believe that SM operates in this manner. You have to view things more objectively & in a business mindset.

In the case of Garcon that means looking at all factors including his past contributions, age and financial impact. Sometimes that will mean getting rid of fan favorites and contributors who might be slowing down due to age or injuries.

Look at the Pats and Eagles pre-Kelly. They would constantly get rid of major names (McNabb, Dawkins, Westbrook, etc) since they had peaked & could be replaced by younger & cheaper talent. Expect a lot of the same to happen with this team.

True socal but you have to have continuity. Can't have new players coming in and out every year. Of course I would want Garcon to restructure but I wouldn't want to lose him. Besides Reed he is our 3rd down possession WR target. You might think the money is high but wait and see what WR's will get this year in FA. The money is going to be crazy.

I would much rather have a RB like Elliot in the draft rather than a 1st round WR. We know that Morris wont work on this team for the future but you cant say that about Garcon. I hope SM realizes that.

We absolutely need a big physical receiver that has been lacking on this team for far too long
