There sure isn't much of a pennant race in any of the playoff spots in the AL. Three teams were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs by the end of August. Another 4 teams have already been eliminated. Of the 8 teams left, 3 have a good hold on their division (although the Twins are a bit shaky, with the Indians just 5 games back, with 17 left to play). Only the Wild Card spots have any kind of race. The Indians sit a half game back of the A's, with the Rays just above them by less than 2 games. The Red Sox and Rangers are still technically in the WC hunt but don't look good.
I had a hard time deciding how to root for in the AL Wild Card game. Mildly disappointed that the A's didn't win but I really like the Rays' team.
Here's to a Twins-Rays ALCS with the Rays advancing to the Wild Series.
