Jets get a little better, but if they don’t upgrade their oline, Rodgers might not last until the playoffs.

I thought he was worth a mid 4th rather than a high 3rd. The salary is what teams should expect to play for a quality WR. I'm still not sure what the Jets are doing.

$36,500,000 a season?????????????????????????????

Quarterbacks? YES!!!!

Every WR that's gotten anywhere near that kind of money has come up lame or their arms have shrunk. It's more of a curse than blessing.

Most fans understand what is going on. Adams is a 1 year rental who will be cut after the season if he doesn't agree a new deal. Tyreek Hill wasn't going to be paid $45M in 2025. The last season salary in his previous contract was there to prevent the Dolphins tagging him after 2024, take any compensatory picks calculations away from interfering with future contract negotiations, and allow those who didn't understand contracts to say Hill was being paid an average of $30M when he was being paid an average of $24M. Adams current deal is similar in those respects.

Except that there are stipulations to prevent the team that holds the contract from cutting him. He's a one year rental with a poison pill.
He's not going to just up and take a cheaper deal. The union won't allow it and have him set a precedence for every other guy who signs a premier contract. One way or another, the Jets know that he's going to get close to that $73M for those two years. It'll be a bonus or a five year deal that will pay him that money in the first two years and decline in the final three. The Raiders and Adams agreed to it and the union and the league will enforce it.

If there are such stipulations could you please post or link the details. Thanks.

No guaranteed money after this season. That is the important part.

It's a win for both teams.

If it's a 2nd rounder for the Raiders it is a great deal for them but as is....solid. He wanted out and Telesco dealt him where he wantes to go.

Good luck on getting that second rounder
I'm fairly sure the Raiders knew that getting that a 2nd round pick would be a serious uphill climb, as in Mt. Everest style. The win for them is having the Jets accept all of Adams' contract. The Raiders are completely off the hook from that.

I think they could have if they ate some salary but apparently Telesco did not want to do that.

The Raiders are dumping a player who was going to leave at the end of the season. They save $11M+ in cash and gain a pick. In a dead season that's a win. The Jets? I don't get it. They haven't used all their attainable cash and future picks to go all-in and they haven't got much of a QB window. Added to that they're 2-4.
