Dude if Vandy played their schedule they would be undefeated ! That's what the point is !

So you just ignored my post right above saying if Alabama players played the same teams Washington did would they be less of a team? Suddenly Vandy is better than Bama players because of who they played not how they play?

Bama is undefeated playing the teams they've played.

If you think they've played the same type of cupcake teams Washington played then go make a thread about your opinion and see what kind of traction your thread gets.

No, he's right... awards finalist lists are three best way of judging a player's ability and worth.

No, that really doesn't make sense. Alabama players aren't the Huskies. They're the Tide and they've earned their #1 spot through thoroughly dominant play against a much tougher schedule than Washington. You can't just make up hypotheticals as a reason a team should be highly ranked. If Washington wins out, it's unlikely that they'll be left out unless Colorado, Utah and Wazzou completely fall off the map and become unranked. However, at this point in the season, it's not hard to difficult against them having a top 4 resume.

Are you Really this stupid? If (thats a question) Alabama players switched places with Husky players at the beginning of the season. And no one knew. They would win right? So are they a worse or equal team (Team, you get that? team) than Vandy as this other guy says because of the schedule? Or is it possible these are good players on a good team who just happened to have a schedule that stinks? Are they not still a good team when you watch them play?

Jesus, dude. Again, your hypothetical means nothing. Alabama is dominating one of the toughest (if not THE toughest) schedules in the entire country, while Washington is unbeaten against a schedule that's barely in the top 3rd of schedules in terms of toughness. That's all that matters. Your little fairy tale is irrelevant because it's not reality. Washington doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt that a team like Bama deserves. If Washington faced Bama's schedule and was unbeaten, they'd be unquestionably in the top 4, if not #1, but they HAVEN'T. That's the point, Tinkerbell, so stop living in a fantasy world.

Good lord . If a team is good but has a crappy schedule aren't they still good? Is Bama less of a team the day they beat Chattanooga?

Perhaps we should look at this another way for those still confused.

Let's examine the teams Washington beat so far this year in a different way:

Rutgers - loss over 3 times as many games as they've won
Idaho - only won 1 more game than they've loss. (Sunbelt)
Portland St. - loss twice as many games as they've won
Arizona - loss over 3 times as many games as they've won
Stanford - loss half as many games as they've won
Oregon - loss twice as many games as they've won
Oregon St. - loss over 3 times as many games as they've won
Utah - only loss 2 but played the same cupcakes as Washington
California - loss over twice as many games as they've won

Any questions ?

Yes they are. However, we don't live in hypothetical world. We live in the real world, and Washington hasn't ACTUALLY proven to be on the level of the elites yet. Your point is entirely irrelevant, because while Washington COULD be elite, we have no idea if they are. Iowa from last year is a great comparison. If Washington had the recent history of teams like Alabama, OSU, Clemson, etc., you could maybe make draw that sort of conclusion. However, Washington is pretty far off from that level, so as I've said several times now, your hypothetical is irrelevant.

That's 6 of the 9 !

It's not hypothetical that a team with no recent history can be good.

We aren't talking about good, we're talking about elite. As in, are they deserving of a playoff spot with their schedule up to this point. 2/3 of their schedule is under .500, so there is no indication of whether or not they're elite.

But it is hypothetical to think that team is Washington !

You are basing your opinion on games won only. No consideration to the caliber of team they played.

I don't think anyone is saying that Washington sucks. At least I haven't seen it.

All I've seen is people skeptical of calling them elite because although they're unbeaten, they're also untested, which I think is perfectly reasonable.

I think that skepticism is par for the course for an undefeated team that really hasn't played any good teams. Hell, Iowa got a lot more than skepticism last year and it turned out to be well founded.

Maybe Washington is great, maybe they're not. We'll see.
