Bennett is under contract for 2016 fwiw.
Yup yup, I know, but he held out last summer, what makes you think he isn't going to do the same this summer? What makes you think the Bears GM is going to tolerate this further? It is all speculation... He hasn't exactly been healthy the last two years, although he has done enough to probably warrant a larger contract.

Ya, I hear ya. His play seemed to outweigh his antics for the first couple of years, but after Miller stepped up last year, Bennett seemed a bit "checked out". He's a helluva talent, but he may not be worth it.

If they resign Miller I can see them cutting Bennett, Hell even trading him. Even though Miller played really well late last year- the guy has been hurt like 75% of the years he's been in the league. Not sure if I'd feel safe with just Miller and the guy Kari Lee? they traded for last year. (from texans- I forget his name)

If we lose Jeffrey, lost Forte, there really is no way the guy that stays here is Bennett. 6.3 million cap hit, with only 1.125 dead money. No loss for this fan, with his lax 2 minute drill.

Well the Bears just Franchise Tagged Jeffery...All is well. Alshon will be a Bear for at least 2016. Good. Now get a long term deal done.

We will see, nothing official on the bears site, it was a rumor thru a source within the organization to give the bears more time to negotiate a deal from yesterday morning. Sometimes its a kick in the ass that the player is not going to be allowed to go and see what its like out there, so sign the extension on the table already.

The Broncos can only tag one of Miller or Thomas, it might be miller, which is going to make Thomas the big fish in the wide receiver pool this summer.

Jeff Allen, arguably the top offensive line UFA is a Chicago native. We could certainly use a big run blocking guard of that caliber.

As far as the skill positions offensively, with Alshon coming back (reportedly) and Forte/Bennett leaving. You'd have to think it will be;

QB - Cutler
RB - Langford/Carey
WR - Alshon, White, Wilson, Royal, Mariani and possibly Deonte Thompson (Is he our Kick Returner?)
TE - Z. Miller (have to think we resign him), K. Lee

Up front, I could see the Bears being aggressive and really shaking things up. Long and Slauson could be our only returning starters, with Grassu battling in camp for the center spot.

Ok...now it's official... Alshon is Non-exclusive franchise tag. $14M+ guaranteed for 2016 season. He's a Bear.

I hope they let him play out this year without trying to do the long term deal until he proves he can stay on the field. I am pretty sure they would be able to trade him, but lets see if the franchise tag will work in our favor.

Money, as in he wants too much. He gone. Someone will pay him but hopefully not us. Like him but he is injured to much to rely on as a starter.

Really? He has a handful of good games and he thinks he's a top TE?

I actually was excited because I thought we could get him back cheaper than he'll be worth after a potential breakout year next season. I was super impressed with him man.

He wants 5 mil per. I really like the guy but that is too much for a guy with his injury history.

In all honesty, I was really impressed when he was healthy with the steelers and we got him on the cheep already. Maybe the 5 is considering he was underpaid last season.

Yeah, plus he is 31. Which I had no idea about. I thought he was like 27. lol

I still hope he winds up back here. Or else we have to start all over at TE next season.

The NFL has their top 99 free agents listed. Miller is #94 and is listed with 6 other TE.

Ladarius Green is the first tight end listed at #39. He's 25 and has good hands.
35 year-old Antonio Gates in next at #47. Skip.
Dwayne Allen is next at #48. He's 26 and reminds me of Martellus.
Coby Fleener is #51. Colts expect to sign him or Allen. Some are picking Fleener cause he's faster. But he has worse hands IMO.
Near the bottom is Zach Miller at #94.
At the bottom is another 35 year-old, Benjamin Watson at #96. Skip.

Out of all of those guys, I'd assume bring back Miller. He developed a pretty good rapport with Cutler.

However, Ladarius Green would be a great signing, IMO. He has a super high ceiling. Extremely gifted athlete.

I agree Rich. Even if Miller is looking at $5 mill, it may be worth it. Greg Jennings was making $4 mill and he was invisible. At least we'd put Miller to work.

According to the cap space, they can make it work.

So no long term deal for Jeffery.
I think it may be a good thing. Or as AI said above...
until he proves he can stay on the field

:spy: The conspiracy theorist in me may think they get rid of Jeffery in 2017 to preserve Johnny Morris' Bears receiving record. Jeffery needs 1331 yards to tie Morris.
