Okay, this isn't your opinion, it's just pure stats, right?

Was also surprised by players whos names werent on any of the lists ie: Larry Bird, Oscar Roberston, Charles Barkley, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, Nate Archibald, Elgin Baylor, Bob Cousy, George Gervin, Moses Malone, Earl Monroe, Willis Reed, Isiah Thomas, Jerry West, Wes Unseld, George Mikan etc. ALL those guys were on the all time top 50 list. Would have thought Id see at least some of their names somewhere.

This of course brings up a completely different interesting debate. The all time top 50 was done what, 17(?) years ago. Which players that werent on the list back then would be on it now?? Safely say Kobe, Timmy, LBJ, J Kidd as locks with probables being KG, Steve Nash. Maybes as AI, Paul Pierce, Melo, Dirk and long shot being CP3, D Howard. Which of those lists of probables/maybes/long shots do you think would make a top 50 list??? If any??

Well a lot of these stats have to do with longevity which is why players like Bird aren't in any of them. Malone, Stockton Kobe, Kareem, and Kidd played a shit ton of games which is why they are on a lot of those lists. I agree with Kobe, Duncan, LBJ, and Kidd being locks, but I would add KG and Wade to being locks, maybe Dirk because of his incredible 2011 season, but that is about it.

Also if you are a do it all player you may not excel in any one category. I guess the point is if you had a choice would you pick Steve Kerr on your team or Larry Bird?

Done.

PPG

1. MJ 30.12
2. Wilt 30.06
3. Elgin 27.4
4. Jerry West 27.0
5. AI 26.7

APG

1. Magic 11.5
2. Stockton 10.5
3. CP3 9.8
4. Big O 9.5
5. Isiah 9.5

RPG

1. Wilt 22.9
2. Russell 22.5
3. Pettit 16.2
4. Lucas 15.6
5. Thurmond 15.0

Steal PG

1. Alvin Robertson 2.7
2. Michael Ray Richardson 2.6
3. Jerry West 2.5
4. CP3 2.4
5. Mookie Blaylock 2.35

BPG

1. Mark Eaton 3.5
2. Manute Bol 3.3
3. Hakeem 3.1
4. David Robinson 3.0
5. Elmore Smith 2.9

-Learned from this.... CP3 is pretty effing underrated. AI was a better scorer than even I remembered AND ( not shown here but still the truth) Big O may be the greatest stat stuffer EVER. Only guy in the top 50 in points, rebounds and assists per game. Was .5 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game away from AVERAGING a triple double in his career. Averaging a triple double.... For a career. Averaging.... LOL. Now that is some serious fucking skills people.

FG%

1. Artis Gilmore
2. Tyson Chandler
3. Shaq
4. Mark West
5. Dwight Howard

Who would have thought that "stats confirm" those 5 are/were better at shooting the ball than both Magic and MJ?

I think a more accurate statement would be that most of their shots come from very close range where a much higher percentage of their shots are dunks.

Interesting trivia question.... Only 1 player in the top 30 of all time FG% leaders is a guard. There are 15 Centers, 14 Forwards and 1 guy that is listed as a F/G but played mostly G in his career. Anyone know who the 1 guy is???? ( hint , he is also a top 20 all time scorer in NBA history)
