Lions offered Suh enough to be highest paid Defensive player like he asked before FA and he still decided to test the market. They all knew he was not staying in Detroit so there is a chance a team jumped the gun, so why not take the shot and investigate it.

What would be a bigger problem is if another team like the Raiders actually did the tampering and offered more than the Lions. Suh would know he could test the market and get more ata minimum. Miami could have just made the highest offer and had nothing to do with anything else. That is my concern because trying to catch another team would be almost impossible.

There seems to be some confusion here on the Lions "allowing" the league to investigate the matter. That's not the Lions call, as the league is already investigating it, independent of what the Lions do or do not want.

I know it's par for the course around here to jump the gun before we have our facts on anything that could possibly be used against Mayhew, but this is turning into a total fucking witch hunt. All Mayhew has said is that the Lions won't purse the matter, not that the matter won't be pursued.

Perhaps, and I know we don't like to consider anything that doesn't make Mayhew look like an idiot, but perhaps Mayhew knows the league is already looking into it, so he's able to take the high road with the media and make it seem like we're not being petty over a lost player? Did we stop to consider anything like that before we jumped into the regular Mayhew-bashing?

Pretty confident that the league might take a lesser view along the lines of investigating the issue if the Lions themselves are basically saying everything is ok with them. That's like a witness not cooperating.

And to the best of my recollection all the league said was they would look into any deals that were signed early. That's pretty broad based. If the Lions ask for an investigation you can bet they would get one since it was the #1 FA they lost.

Going on record as saying they aren't pursuing any potential infraction is a completely stupid thing to say and do. The correct action for any non-idiot front office executive is simply to keep their damn mouth shut and let it play out without openly saying they don't see the need for the investigation of anything, i.e. the Dolphins did nothing wrong.

I wonder if I can get you a Fat Head of Mayhew to put on your wall? Maybe you already have one?
