They signed him to sell tickets, not to win football games. Pretty much purely a publicity stunt with a franchise-crippling contract of that magnitude...

You're not a cap expert. And just because Mayhew can't do it doesn't mean other GMs can't make it work. The cap will rise, we'll be able to keep our best players, and with good drafting, we'll field a playoff caliber team.

NEVER once have I claimed to be Swarm. NEVER. The contract is what it is and you have no proof whatsoever that Miami can handle their cap issues either. Go look at all the bad contracts they've signed in the last 3 years and then released said players with lots of dead-money after having only stayed for a yr or two

Clearly he's a good coach, since he's been in work since that incident... there's no real connection between getting sloshed and doing something stupid like that and his ability to coach football.

For what it's worth alcoholism is a huge problem with NFL coaches and especially personnel types (scouts, GMs, etc...).

I have agreed with minute moves that Mayhew has done in past but defending Mayhew in the context you're stating, NOPE ! NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN ! I got over the NOT re-signing of SUH. just like I got over Mayhew's drafting of Ebron when I clearly wanted Donald. I'm not bashing the Dolphins either because they signed SUH. Just more proof of how clueless The Clown Show really is. Absolutely no chance in hell they know what went on in the way the Dolphins pursued Suh, NONE!! His agent certainly didn't fill the Lions in on what happened. That's for the league to decide, not them.

If there was wrong doing their team would be the beneficiary of the penalty imposed. Instead they unilaterally decide without knowing jack shit about what happened that everything is ok.
