Some interesting players that could help FAs. Taylor Gabriel WR, Donte Moncrief WR, John Brown WR, Morris Claiborne CB, Kyle Fuller CB
49ers have resigned tackle Garry Gilliam to a two year deal. Not that it will excite anyone but he'll be back to add some depth to a group that needs more than just depth.
49ers injury issues continued in 2017
Is interesting cause you'd think the extent of injuries is random? So 5 years of being ranked low, appears unusual?
But i don't think there is much the Training Staff can do/ maybe the Coach can ease up on practices, but there is a fine line with that. in the past we've also read tackling becomes poor with less padded practices.
I think it is a combination of factors. Over the last few years they have drafted and kept a number of players on the roster that are injury prone. Guys like Ward, McDonald, Ellington who just can't make it through a year healthy. Then add on top the injuries to other players. To me, there is luck involved when a team makes it through a season without any serious injuries. The 49ers were pretty lucky during their playoff run 2011 and 2012. Then starting in 2014 the wheels really started to fall off and they have been hammered since. The Seahawks seemed have a run of good fortune back in 2013/2014 and now they've turned and have been pretty hard. Eventually happens to every team
Yep, Ellington, Ward, and Armstead for sure, then are they counting ACL guys? Injuries will happen this season too, so all we can hope for is not the 'season ending' types. Obviously, JImmy G can't get hurt either.
Yes, it happens to every team but that's the point, then it should be random? 5 years ranked low isn't 'random'.
The 49ers are moving forward without offensive lineman Zane Beadles.
The team announced Beadles’ release on Monday. Beadles spent the last two years with the team and started every game at right guard in 2016 before moving to a bench role for most of last season. He made one start at left guard before Laken Tomlinsontook over the job and four at right tackle while Trent Brown was injured.
In a statement, 49ers General Manager John Lynch said there’s a chance Beadles could return down the road.
“Zane is a consummate professional and has represented our organization with exceptional class,” Lynch said. “He is an unselfish guy who stepped up in a big way for our team last year and we can’t thank him enough for all his contributions to the organization and our community. Zane is just the kind of player and person we would always be open to welcoming back down the road, but releasing him now provides ample opportunity to find the right situation with his next team. We wish him and his family all the best as he moves forward in his career.”
The 49ers added Jonathan Cooper this offseason as an interior option behind Tomlinson and right guard Josh Garnett.
If they don't bring him back he'd be a great depth signing for a team looking for help along the OL.
What about those statues you see sitting on park benches? LOL
Beadles needed to go.
That would work too. At least the statues wouldn't get holding penalties as the opposing defenders ran around them. PFF had Beadles ranked among the worst guards in the league
The 49ers have added a veteran offensive lineman to their roster after trading Trent Brown to the Patriots during the draft.
The agents for interior lineman Mike Personannounced that their client has signed a contractfor the 2018 season.
It’s the second time that Person has signed a contract to join the team. He entered the league as a Niners seventh-round pick in 2011, but never played in a regular season game for the team. Person got into a game with the Seahawks in 2013, played all 16 games for the Rams in 2014 and made 14 starts at center for the Falcons during the 2015 season. He spent last season with the Colts and made four starts while appearing in 12 games.
Person gives the 49ers an experienced option at center behind free agent acquisition Weston Richburg.
Some much needed competition alongside Richburg.
