WWE did some excellent numbers but Fox was disappointed with the returns compared to the contract they gave them . I think one week during the height of the Bloodline angle it was the highest rated program on TV.
AEW would obviously be a much lower investment with much lower expectations even if it airs on Fox as opposed to FS1
I think Meltzer said everything will eventually be on Max

Yeah, they weren't happy with the return on investment. They paid a ton of money to WWE, but weren't seeing the returns they wanted for ad dollars and driving ratings for other shows. It wasn't that they were opposed to WWE or wrestling, its that they were opposed to paying that price for it. If they can pay AEW a lower number, they could be ok with it getting similar returns

But they won’t get similar returns though, so yes Fox would be paying less for AEW but AEW doesn’t bring in nearly the same advertisers WWE does so you’re paying them less but they aren’t generating anywhere close in ad revenue.

Also, if Fox was censoring the word shit and muting the broadcast for SD in what world would they be ok with A) the violence we see on AEW or B) AEW fans not watching because it’s 100% different than any other show they have and not what they watch AEW for.

My guess is if they do get a show with Fox it’ll be on FS1 or Tubi.

You don't know what their returns are though. The only thing we see is ratings, but that's not their biggest driver. WWE gets higher ratings than AEW but if companies are only paying ad dollars in the same ballpark for either company, then its a loss for Fox to pay big bucks for WWE's rights. That's why they let them go.

With the funk AEW is in terms of perception of the wrestling fan, I feel like FOX isn't going to chance it on tanking on national television. They would chance it on FS1 because they'd also probably have to pay less.

But you can tell what advertisers they bring in by looking at who advertises with WWE and who advertises with AEW.

The knock on professional wrestling has always been it brings in low quality advertisers and AEW is no different. The only reason why WWE got better is when they went PG they got deals like with people like Mattel, Slim Jim, etc so they made them more appealing.

I'm weird on this

I liked some of the Matches(Private Party/Evp's and triple threat are Matches of the nights)

But it showed a lack of Depth and innovation in a small bit...

Take a look at AEW women's Do you see Williow as a Viable Challenger and Credible Champion?

Why not Britt or Hayter or Saraya?

The other was the attack. I found it a bit of "Unneeded Overkill"

Wheeler turn. Ya That was needed, but why Bag and Injure the neck more? Why not Do the turn and allow him to address the Public?

And now your looking at a Champion with no Viable Challengers with a PPV 6 weeks from now.

I understand what they were trying to portray and get across................. But it was good thought with no Expansion on it

Yeah, I do see Willow as a credible champion. She's pretty good. But it made no sense for her to be in that title match right now considering how the Stat/Willow feud ended. Some reports I read said Thunder Rosa was lined up to be May's challenger but she got concussed. So it looks like they just panicked and threw a match together

Ah Panic booking...................

How I loathe you?

To me there were better options.

Hell BETTER OPITIONS IN THE FUCKING CONTENDERS MATCH

but i digress.

Very Interested in seeing the next Step in ????/Mox and Mox storyline

I don't think they had many better options, but that's also their fault for not having anyone built. Hayter just came back and do you really want her eating a title loss right away? Saraya and Nyla Rose would have been fine but they had done nothing with them on TV in any meaningful way

I kind of liked it. In true Danielson fashion he used his semi-retirement to get everyone else over. Moxely won the belt clean as a whistle. His entire faction including Yuta looked dangerous. Darby takes over Danielson's career role as the sympathetic babyface. I can see this coming full circle with Darby eventually taking the belt off Moxely next year. I thought it was well done.

As a general observation AEW went 180 from the last PPV in terms of blood and guts. I wonder if that was a creative decision, a coincidence or a directive from the sponsors/networks.

If anyone in the AEW camp reads this thread, let TK know he has to give Ben Johnson and a GM of his choosing a blank check this offseason. I still believe in Lawrence and they have some nice young pieces on offense.
