I have a hard time believing they’d allow this and not cut his mic off if it wasn’t a work on some level

But I still think that this is at least partly shoot.

He is likely to hop to wwe in 2024 imo.

His merchadise section has also been removed from AEWShop.com.

I could see it being a work and this just fueling the rumors of it being a shoot.

Tonight on Rampage, he announced he's hurt and needs surgery. BUT he's not relinquishing the title. Instead there will be Interim Champ.

This Wednesday on Dynamite there will a Battle Royal. The winner of that will face Mox in the main event of the same show. Whoever wins that goes on to Forbidden Door to compete for the Interim Title against ???.

I think that's it. It was kinda hard to follow because Excalibur read the announcement mid TNT title match and the action was coming too fast making it difficult to understand

No one knows since they haven't yet stated the injury. But since its an Interim title, they must figure he won't be out a substantial time. Like if it were ligament damage, that'd be months and months. But if its broken bones, that could be a few weeks if everything heals up right. So I'd lean it being the latter and they expect him back. All Out could be a possibility. If it were Full Gear in November, you'd think they'd just crown a new champ because that's a lot longer.

My take is that if it was something minor they would just have Punk cut promos for a couple weeks then ease him back into wrestling with tag matches and light work. I'm guessing this will be a timeline of multiple months. They did say surgery is involved in this too.

One minor critique I have is that during the company's inception they hyped w/l records and rankings as important but a current tag wrestler is basically getting a bye to a world championship match.
