AEW so far doing a terrible job promoting this event on social media. I haven't see anything about it really since WM.
Speaking of Moxley, that tweet about the song could just as easily be about Moxley. To my knowledge, he's yet to take any independent bookings so he may already be committed to AEW and they're keeping it quiet for the surprise. Plus, CM Punk uses Cult of Personality and since its an actual song, WWE doesn't own the rights and he can take it with him so long as someone pays the license fee for it. Punk may very well want new music but if you want that massive pop of a surprise, wouldn't you want to hear those first few notes of Cult of Personality?

Thought maybe they would take over social media in some way, like Twitter. Around WM I noticed they were popping up on twitter for a bit, but I haven't seen anything since....I don't even know when this event is I know it's end of May but is it this Saturday or next? What are you expecting? Like buying ad space or something? FWIW, they make two weekly video series on youtube, the Being The Elite series and a The Road to Double or Nothing series, that are usually shared by them on social media platforms.

If Punk shows up on the first night then I’d watch. But then if he did his usual schtick then I’d change it just as quickly as I did with Impact. I tuned into Impact for something different but when they put a WWE guy on it was embarrassing to watch. Every promo was them just cutting at the WWE which is ironic as the only reason they got paid by that company is because of the WWE. Punk’s pipe bomb was kind of a once in a lifetime event where wrestlers frustration and worldwide frustration meet. Punk’s pipe bomb audience is already going to be watching.
Well we got some drama already.
PAC has pulled out of his match with Adam Page. They're claiming "creative differences". Supposedly PAC, who is the champion at DragonGate, doesn't want to lose to Adam Page. So he pulled out of the match and says he's not going to AEW either.
It's possible its a work (I personally don't think so) because the two men had a match tonight and PAC cut the promo after beating him. Either way, its frustrating. Was reall looking forward to this match.
This is what happens when the wrestlers are their own bookers. WWE may not be the most entertaining lately, but how Vince runs things has proven to work.Well we got some drama already.

If this is a work it's lame.
If it's a shoot they should just go ahead with the match but have it end in a screwy finish. Canceling it is also lame.
Pac back on weekly American TV is one of the things I'm most excited for with AEW so I hope this isn't a long term issue.

The details right now according to Meltzer (keep in mind he's fairly biased towards AEW as he's close to the Bucks and Cody) is this;
-Pac was suppose to win at DoN setting up a scenario where he'd face Kenny Omega later this summer for AEW's title or in the lead up to crowning their champion. Pac was then suppose to lose to Omega later this summer. But apparently Dragongate plans on keeping him as their champion well beyond this summer and Pac refuses to lose to anyone as long as he's still DG champ. They want wins/losses to matter in AEW so obviously to them it would make no sense to have Omega lose and still have in him in their title picture. They also didn't want to do a screwy finish or DQ at DoN because they want to give the impression on their first show that you're going to get solid wins/loss finishes at AEW PPVs. So AEW decided to pull the match because they still want to go with their long term plan. Pac won't appear in AEW as long as he's still DG champ but may show up some time down the road. Right now supposedly Page will get a replacement opponent for DoN and Meltzer speculated it could be a bigger match than what Pac vs Page was gonna be, leading a lot of people to guess its Jon Moxley (aka Dean Ambrose).
How is Meltzer close to Cody and the Bucks? The whole impetus for All In was the big "Fuck You!"/middle finger to prove Dave Meltzer wrong.
It wasn't a fuck you. It was more of a friendly wager. They've always been close, especially the Bucks and Meltzer. Even one of their moves is named after him. He's grown close to them over the years attending a lot of their shows as they were coming up, especially in California. Most all of the AEW news that's come from him is just assumed to come directly from the Bucks. And its why you've seen some people push back a bit on his bias over the last year because he's known about stuff (like AEW being a thing) since he's close to them but would never fully report on it. Other sites would find out details and he'd flat out deny it to protect AEW and then it would turn out those other sites' reports would be right.
So in relation to this specific topic, while its assumed the gist of the topic is legit, just be mindful that his report could be with a bit of PR clean up spin for his friends. AEW could be more responsible for the mishap than what the report leads you to believe for example. Like I've seen some people say, if this situation happened (a match being pulled a week before a big show) in any other company, Meltzer would be shitting all over it.
According to Cody Rhodes it was.
Except its not. They have a good relationship with him

I think the Impact promos were a Vince Russo thing. He loves worked shoots so every wrestler who left the WWE had to shit talk the company in a TNA promo.
I agree the formulas been beaten into the ground and never needs to be seen again but I'd make one exception for Punk if he wants cut that style of promo. I'd also be fine with him never bringing them up by name.
