I had a hard time buying Black Gives Way to Blue because I felt like I was betraying Layne in a way. I'm glad I bought it because it's a good album. Your Decision still hurts to listen to.

Great fucking band. One of my favorites of all time.

I went through my teenage and young adult years during the grunge era (early 90's) and FINALLY got to see them play tonite for the first time. The played almost all of the good shit (none of the smack songs and none of the personal shit) they also played some new stuff. Did a two and a half hour set. It was great. They sounded great. Jerry Cantrell is a guitar god and Duvall totally does Lane justice.

Damn it's hard...

My favorite has to be "Down in a Hole" .... The one song they didn't play that I was hoping they would :( . I doubt anyone gets that one much nowadays...

:agree:

"Down in a Hole" unplugged is the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard.

Also, Got Me Wrong is underrated, IMO.

"Down in a Hole" was always my favorite. Alice in Chains was a great group in it's prime.

Down in a hole....Man in a box are my favorites. I like most to all of their stuff, but I have found the lyrics to be a little simple.

I love almost every AIC album. Two of my favorite songs by them weren't even on their albums...

A Little Bitter

What The Hell Have I

Glad to see AIC is still universally loved. I was surprised and happy to see such a diverse crowd wrt age last night. I saw people anywhere between 14-15 and probably 60+ years old. The band didnt seem to miss a note and are still going strong. I think they have ALOT of good music left to write.

Here is the setlist from last night. I believe the unknown songs were the new ones...Hollow, It Ain't Like That, and Pretty Done. I admittedly haven't listened a ton to the newest one.

1.Dirt
2.Again
3.Check My Brain
4.Them Bones
5.Dam That River
6.(Unknown)
7.(Unknown)
8.(Unknown)
9.Man in the Box
10.Nutshell
11.Confusion
12.Stone
13.We Die Young
14.Rooster
Encore:
15.Got Me Wrong
16.No Excuses
17.Would?

If they could have thrown in Down in a Hole, Angry Chair, Rain When I Die, Don't Follow, Sludge Factory, and Sickman it would've been an epic 3 1/2 hour set.

It was still a kick ass 2 1/2 hour set :)

I think many were worried about this album and the new singer. That was all put to rest quickly. It was a very strong album and the new singer fit like a glove. He wasn't just some guy who sounded like Layne. He can pull off the lead and vocal harmonies with Jerry on the old songs, but he does have his own unique qualities to his vocals and it presents really well with the black and dinosaurs albums.

I'm glad AIC is still making music and touring. Same with Soundgarden. Those two were my favs from the Seattle scene. It's a bright spot in the music industry right now.

I got to see em' live a few times. A couple of great shows and one I won't forget. I can't remember what year's Lollapollooza it was, but AIC, Primus, Rage were there...some other good bands as well...Layne went through two 5ths of Jack while on stage in a limited set!? He was smashed, and he was making up new lyrics as he went...most of which were of the potty humor type. He would sing the chorus normal, and then just was saying fart, poop en sech for the rest...making fart noises en sech.

It was actually one of the worst shows I've ever seen, but in hindsight...one of the most memorable too.

That sucks. Kind of screams of the "hate all this attention" vibe.. but then again, they elected to join lollapalooza. Wasn't like the circus was coming to their own standalone shows.
