I didn't realize we were able to do any trades at this time, I didn't think the trade period started until March. So, how official is everything? When does Smith new contract start or can it be delayed enough for us to tag and trade Kirk? If he walks and we get nothing, this is just embarrassing as hell. Signing Smith to a new contract was not necessary until after we dealt with tagging and trading Kirk. I'll wait until more details come out before I make final judgement. But the front office sure likes to make it hard for fans that do not live in the DC area to have a real reason to continue to support them.
Best young slot corner in the game is hilarious. Half the teams have one. Eagles had Boykin the best young slot corner in the game, got rid if him, and eventually signed the actual best slot corner in the game.

That dude is off his rocker. To put it nicely.
You know how I know you are retarded? Because you keep calling Alex Smith a downgrade when Kirk Cousins was already gone. You realize this isnt just me saying this right? He graded as the top slot corner by 2 different ranking metrics last season. Even if you dont think hes the best hes a 22 year old very good corner beloved by coaching staff and teammates. You dont give that up (plus a 3rd rounder) to downgrade and get older at QB and commit to mediocrity rather than a shot at a SB.
17m is cheap for a good QB.THISAlex Smith

Looks like it saved you from giving up a much more valuable pick.
See what Moreau's got. Kid can run.
No, Smith has agreed to a 4 year extension ($70+M guaranteed) with us starting in 2019. So we have 5 years to pay for this mistake.Yeah, Fabian has some skills. Still not sure what to make of the deal. Smith only has 1 year left on his contract. We may be in the same boat as we were this year with Cuz.
Lol this board would probably throw a fit but that wouldve been a million times better of a plan
And this right her gents, is why I think Bruce isnt done with this
Barnwell: Winners, losers and fallout from the Alex Smith trade
Instead, with Smith likely occupying $20 million in cap room, Washington will let Cousins hit unrestricted free agency this March. They would be in line to receive a third-round compensatory pick in the 2019 draft, but that will happen only if Snyder sits out free agency and doesn't sign any players who will cancel out the Cousins comp pick. Doing that would require levels of patience and forward thinking this organization simply hasn't shown.
We will get that third regardless unless you believe we are going to sign a guy for 100 million guaranteed at 25 mil a season in FA.
We dont need to sign one player for that amount. While they have never released the formula used to figure out FA gains vs loses. Player impact is also a factor.
Basically even if Kirk gets paid, a 3rd is the BEST we will get, but it could come in at less depending on how we handle FA.
