I get all of it.

But I don't think I have ever seen something as stupid as setting up a player to retire with only a couple of games left to play and then benching him.

Arod deserves all the blame in the world for the choices he's made.

But not even he deserves that.

Wonder if Jason Varitek wears his mask everywhere

Little bitch goes to fight with a cage on. He'd get a stick to the back of the head in hockey.

No Doubt, amazing that Boston fans wear that day as a badge of honor

Find any catcher in History, One other time, that didnt toss his mask first, instinctively, before entering a melee

Exactly. No dog in the fight here but Tek knew exactly what he was doing.

Are you referring to the pussy who started a fight without taking off his mask? Yeah, real tough guy.

I read he wore one to his divorce hearings. Didn't help

LOL, did I strike a chord?

Gotta miss Mattingly's sweet 'stache though. Dewd looks weird without it.

I don't even care that it was a bitch move. Tek punching ARod in the face was the first step towards breaking the curse. '04 Champs!

Varitek went to Georgia Tech, so obviously, he's a giant pussy.

But this reminds me of an old TD back on Fannation where guys were arguing who win in a fight between Tebow or A-Rod.

I think the consensus was other than a few Yankee homers was that unless Tebow decided to turn the other cheek, he could rip A-Rod's head off and lose his virginity to A-Rod's neck hole if he wanted to.

I'm obviously missing something but why is he retiring before the season ends, especially in this case when the season is already about 75% over? More attention?

He sold his roster spot back to the Yankees.

Not a doubt in my mind. He came out ahead on this deal financially.

The Yankees are cutting/releasing him (which is why he's still getting paid the $ he's owed), and he decided to retire when he's released.

If he could've played out his contract I'm sure he would've, but the Yankees simply don't want him anymore as they'd rather give the roster spot to one of their young guys.
