Watching his press conference live on MLB Network.

After the game on Friday, he will be released by The Yankees and become an ambassador for The Yankees organization.

Gotta say, I'm not exactly sad to see him go.

Happy Trails Aroid.

Other than his constant lying and cheating, he was okay.

Special Advisor and Instructor were written in the press release that the media received

That's probably correct. I was watching the press conference live and one of the MLB Network guys said ambassador. I haven't read any articles.

He did hit a huge grand slam 6-7 years ago on the last day of my fantasy season to give me a Championship.

I had 8 broken ribs at the time and my subsequent celebration was very painful.

Godspeed Aroid!

A-Rod is a big reason why I was soured on Freddi Gonzalez pretty early on in his tenure with the Braves.

Mike Minor is shutting the Yankees down at Turner Field in a season where Minor was struggling the entire year until that start. We're leading 4-0 going into the 8th, Minor only has like 70 pitches. Leadoff hitter gets an infield hit, Gonzalez pulls Minor and puts in a struggling Jonny Venters who then proceeds to load the bases and give up the grand slam that breaks Lou Gehrig's record to tie the game, and of course we lose.

Never did forgive Freddi for that.

Freddi over-managed a lot. Especially his bullpen (except the playoff game against the Dodgers... Should have brought Kimbrel in earlier).

Yep, beating Clayton Kershaw with Freddy Garcia late in the game, and we lose without our best pitcher ever taking the mound.

No way in hell is he leaving the 21M on the table for next season, not to mention the balance of the $$ for this year. Either he was bought out, or the Yankees are actually cutting him, but ARod is just calling it a retirement.

Kinda crazy... I figured there was no way his pride would let him retire without the HR record. Guess he realized the swing is just not there any more.

That suspended year killed him. Honestly think he would have close to 730 HR by now had he not got suspended in 2014

Yeah, I really don't think ARod's done yet. Think he'll attempt a comeback.
