Oh, definitely. They spent well. I think the Giants failure is a bigger event than the Red Sox success.No question high payroll teams have a huge advantage. But as posted there have been plenty of high payroll teams who haven't had the success the Red Sox have had over the past 13 years. Dodgers had the highest payroll for the previous 4 years, how'd that work out? Yankees came up empty countless seasons when they had the highest payroll.
So you have to give them credit for using their high payroll better than other teams over the years.

I wish MLB had a good salary cap. Both a min and a max. Must be above 100 million but under 200 million. So Tampa couldn't spend 71 million less than league average as they did this year.
