I’m surprised to see no Aaron Judge on Team USA for the WBC. He’s the biggest draw in the game right now. MLB always loves to miss good opportunities for marketing itself.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Nestor Cortes will skip next month's World Baseball Classic due to a right hamstring strain.

Andy Martino of SNY.com adds that Cortes says he's dealing with a low Grade 2 hamstring strain and won't throw off a mound for a few weeks. He's still throwing from flat-ground and hasn't been ruled out for Opening Day yet. The 28-year-old southpaw has been phenomenal for New York over the last two seasons, compiling a sparkling 3.25 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 335/91 K/BB ratio across 318 innings (83 appearances, 43 starts). There should be additional updates on his timetable once spring training officially gets underway.

Chris Sale (wrist) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.

"We'll see," said Red Sox manager Alex Cora when asked about whether the team will open the 2023 season with a five-man starting rotation. The expectation is that Sale, who is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Saturday before progressing to facing hitters sometime next week, will be ready for Boston's season-opener. However, he's been limited to just 11 starts over the last three years due to injuries, and is coming off surgery to repair a fractured left wrist that he sustained in a bicycle accident last August.

Have to start a pool to guess what bizarre injury he suffers to put him out for another season.

Red Sox president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom reiterated on Tuesday that he wouldn't bet on Adalberto Mondesi (knee) being ready for Opening Day.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora gave a positive update on Mondesi earlier on Tuesday, but the expectation hasn't changed within the organization that the speedster won't be ready in time for Opening Day as he continues to recover from last year's surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

I heard he lost a lot of excess weight and that he's feeling lighter.

Sox have installed an anchor device on the mound when he pitches on windy days.
How can he possibly have excess weight, he makes Gilligan look like the Skipper…..
