Feels like Dickens wrote the screenplay

A tale of two halves, first half was clearly the best of times, and the second half.....................

Let's include the Mariners as well. Last few we got from them sucked as well. Then again it's Cashman so any pitcher he trades for will likely suck.

I’m thinking Sonny Gray and now Montas. Are there others? Gray was certainly a disaster, but it’s too early to make a determination on Montas. It’s clear that he’s not pitching in the pitcher’s paradise of Oakland anymore, however.

Some people simply can't perform well under the bright lights of New York. Randy Johnson had 2 of his worst seasons there.

he wasn't great, but I'm not sure I'd call his 2005 season one of his worst. His K/9 did dip in his first year in NY from 10.6 to 8.4 (which was still good for 4th in the AL), but he still had a great walk rate (1.9) and a 1.13 WHIP (2nd best). That 2005 Yankees team may have been one of the worst teams ever defensively. The Yankees as a team had a rfield of -109! There were *five* players that had an rfield of -14 or worse (Sheff, Womack, Cano, Williams, Jeter). Randy's RA9Def was -0.61, which was by far the worst of his career (2006 was the second worst at -0.31). Unfortunately he did not come close to the 30 wins that John Kruk predicted him reach. :-)

Johnson was pretty subpar in 2006, I agree there. Johnson's pre-1993 seasons weren't particularly great.

Do you have to put the “mug clanking” emoji at the end of every post, or is it just there automatically(like a signature)? I could be wrong, but I think it’s on every single post you make.

The track record for pitchers away from Oakland is kinda spotty.

As much as Gray did suck in NY, he has pitched well since (133 ERA+, 11.8 WAR in 456.1 IP).
Hudson was very good in Atlanta.
The Zito contract was a disaster (2.4 WAR in *seven* seasons). Mulder had one good year in STL before crashing and burning.
Harden was brilliant down the stretch for the Cubs in 2008 but sucked after that.
Lidle had two good years in OAK but he was pretty meh outside of Oakland.
Haren was still a stud after Oakland traded him.
Cahill sucked.
Brett Anderson couldn't stay healthy.
Gio Gonzalez was really good for the Nats.
McCarthy's best two seasons came in Oakland, journeyman career.
Milone had a 100 ERA+ in Oakland but had a career 88 ERA+.
Manaea has a 78 ERA+ in his first year away from Oakland after putting up a 107 ERA+ there.

Funny enough, Anderson and Cahill both returned to pitch for Oakland in 2018.

what about the track record going to yankee stadium it cant be very good except for maybe ground ball pitchers and aces usually succeed everywhere (Cole) :suds:

1. Carl Pavano

10 OF 10
  1. The name alone bring anger, frustration and several expletives to the minds of Yankees fans around the globe.
That is none other than Carl Pavano, the biggest bust of this past decade.
Pavano came over from the Florida Marlins as a free agent after an 18-8 season where he posted a 3.00 ERA. He signed a four-year, $39.95 million contract. Pavano was to headline the Yankees' rotation in 2005 alongside Randy Johnson for a dominant 1-2 punch.
Pavano never came close to panning out for the Bombers.

Record with the Yankees: 9-8, 5.10 ERA in 26 starts over four seasons.:suds:

The Yankees called the MRI machine in the facility they used in Tampa the Carl Pavano Memorial MRI machine.
