I thought the Red Sox would trade away most of it's aged value.

There should be more news about this.... They are only two games out of the wild card, but there are seven teams battling for three spots. If Boston thinks they still have a chance, why did they trade Vasquez - then acquire McGuire (a platoon catcher)?.. Hosmer is a slight upgrade at 1st, but it hardly shouts, "We're going for it!" Pham might be an upgrade, but his history suggests he'll never survive in Boston. And, what about the bullpen (their biggest need)??

Even if they make the playoffs, it'll take a lot of luck to go far. So, next winter, they lose Martinez, Eovaldi, Hill, Wacha, Bradley, & Hernandez - all for nothing... They think they'll be able to renegotiate Bogaerts' contract?? And extend Devers?

This has to be the strangest trade deadline I've seen in beantown. I'm beginning to question Bloom's logic...

Montgomery has been a consistent #3 or 4 since he came up. He is never going to be great, but not all your pitchers are. He was going to go out there every 5th day and give you 5 or 6 innings with a chance to win. That is better than most teams have at the end of their rotation. If you wanted an OF that bad then call up Florial, not trade away someone like Montgomery.

Bad bad trade that is going to come back and haunt the Yankees. Probably going to need some innings killed against Houston, but have to send worn out arms out there only to see that vertically challenged fuckbreath drive in Mancini.
Maybe the Cards will actually hit behind the Monty. From the run support he was getting from the Yanks you'd think he was banging all their wives

Makes no sense…..

They must really love german/expect sevy back in September
Saw a whole lot of stories about how they needed to upgrade their CF defense all of a sudden, after not hearing a peep about it for 4 months.

They showed a stat on YES last night. They are ranked at the bottom of the league in runs saved at CF

Right, but all I heard all season was what a great job Judge was doing out there. Suddenly yesterday it was a glaring problem that had to be addressed by dealing one of our rotation mainstays.

A little odd, IMO, and makes me think there are other reasons we don't know about that made Monty a Cardinal yesterday.

I watch just about every game and I can't remember one where Judge cost us a run, much less a game with his defense. I'll all for better D but to trade a left handed starter, who has not been bad this year, who has another year of arbitration for a light hitting CF on the DL seems like a bad move. Throw in Sevi is out and unreliable and that German is also unreliable this doesn't seem to make sense. I would understand if they didn't trade Sears and thought he'd be able to step in if necessary but they traded him too. Gil is out for the season as well. I don't know where they go if they have another injury

Hoo boy. Lot of red flags for a team 35 games over .500. More every day it seems.

They were 500 in July and about to lose 2 of 3 to the Mariners at home so they haven't exactly been lighting it up the last 5 weeks. Seems like they haven't won a series against a decent team in some time

Hard to post here knowing I will be trashed for this, but the Yankees record only indicates they will make it to post season. Now, how the heck can any Yankees fan feel comfortable with their starting rotation

I've been saying for weeks the second half is gonna be a bumpy ride. Not even thinking about October yet at this point
