They haven't won a road opener since 2006.

I would pick up Givens to be the Orioles closer.

Buck is a stubborn ass, but Brach has 7 blown saves in 25 chances now with a few more tie game losses.

The fans will revolt if Buck keeps rolling him out there. He is a decent 8th inning guy, but a pathetic closer.

He still sucks. Cora probably should have had a quicker hook, but it's fully on Kelly/Smith (mostly Kelly IMO) for blowing that.

I feel very good about the Red Sox chances of reaching the postseason (or WC Game, however you want to define "playoffs"), but the middle/setup relievers are very iffy IMO and I feel like that's what will keep the Red Sox from winning the division. Barnes has good stuff, but inconsistent command. Same with Kelly though Barnes at least gets strikeouts on a more consistent basis. Hembree doesn't walk many guys, but is very hittable. Carson Smith has missed the majority of 2016 and 2017 to injuries. Kimbrel's the only guy I have full confidence in even though the Red Sox project to have an above average bullpen (4.2 WAR, 8th best projection). 2.3 of those wins projected are for Kimbrel.

Well, that was a highly enjoyable day 1.

Severino cruised, Stanton crushed 2, 'Pen did its job (although Betances still doesn't seem right)
