I feel like when tanaka goes out each time its either boom or busy much more then any other pitcher on the staff

The split hasn't been splitting all year, and now the slider ain't sliding.

And he's got a BP fastball. Against a lineup like Boston that's a recipe for disaster.

This team ain't winning squat in October if he doesn't get his shit together.

I'm not abandoning ship that fast. They're not 30 games over on July 26th because they got lucky. We've seen Tanaka have similar struggles to this before, and he's figured it out. Cashman is going to have to do some work before Wednesday however. The rotation as presently constituted is not good enough.

yup. Sox most likely didn't give up anything of note to acquire him, but anyone expecting anything remotely close to a 3.83 ERA like he had in Baltimore is going to be terribly disappointed. He'll provide some stability (or at least is a better bet to go 5+ innings than Velazquez or Johnson, the latter being hurt) but he is not someone I want in the rotation come October... if we even make it to the playoffs.

yup. Sox most likely didn't give up anything of note to acquire him, but anyone expecting anything remotely close to a 3.83 ERA like he had in Baltimore is going to be terribly disappointed. the offense has been spectacular since the beginning of May (.712 OPS in March/April, but they've had an OPS above .840 every month since), Bogaerts and Devers have been destroying the past few months. the rotation outside of Price/Sale/Eduardo (and Sale's having a down year, granted you're a really good pitcher if a 120 ERA+ is considered to be one of your worst seasons). the bullpen sucks ass though.
